Hi everyone,

Ive come across some problems with my friends wii.

It plays regular wii back ups just fine, but it does not read GC backups. So I can't update it and add the 1.9g patch etc...

It is an NTSC wii, with a wiikey without any updates or patches because I can't get it to read GC backups. The backups do work on my wii perfectly.

I opened it up again to see if I placed any of the wires in the wrong place and they all are fine. Is there a particular solder spot that is responsible for GC backups only?

Thanks in advance for any help.

He needs to change the region settings to "on," with the wiikey disc.

Seriously this is most likely the problem, I had the same situation but I wasn't able to play SNES or Sega emulators.
Once I turned that setting on it worked mint.

This is what I used, might be best to burn on a DVD -RW since it is a small file.

Problem is the Wiikey disc's don't even work. It doesnt read anything that is read as a GC disk. The dvd's that I am using are working copies as they work perfectly in my wii.

and also some of nintendo's first party games
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
some of the best selling games on the switch are wii u ports (that are priced way too high
like come on 60 for a game thats a decade old??)

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@ColdBlitz, i forgot breath of the wild released for the Wii u
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
$60 for a game that's a decade old might be unheard of on PC but actually is not uncommon on consoles

especially Nintendo because they only ever lower the price of games when they do a greatest hits/platinum hits/players choice re-release
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@The Real Jdbye, and the HD collections released for 7th gen consoles too
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but they don't seem to have done any of those for the switch yet and maybe never will
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
I think we all forgot breath of the wild released for the wii u tbh

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@The Real Jdbye, tbh the HD collections are more justified since they include more than just 1 game per copy
