Thx for your reply. Half of them do load on my powerful android phone and I have no problem playing them but I guess a super card or overdrive is the way forward if I want them all to play especially on native machines

Also are there any other GBA wads available not on Bazooka face list, if so where do I find them. Thx again for your knowledge
I meant that you should use PrBoom for Android (for example, this: https://github.com/7dog123/Prboom-Android
) instead of a PrBoom emulator on a gba emulator for Android: then you could use hundreds of compatible wads, Instead of a handful. The port in this thread is for those using real hardware (gba/GBA SP/DS phat-lite) via flashcarts.

Regarding other conversions for GBA, I don't know of any, apart from the failed attempt to port Freedoom to GBA, but I don't remember the thread title.

OMG.... OOOMMMMGGGG.... Sorry.. I just can't contain my excitement!

For someone, who played Doom, all his live and still does.... and probably will, until the end of days, and as someone who looooves the GBA so much... this is a dream come true for me!!

I downloaded and tested a few of the versions available here and I gotta say, I am floored.

Bazooka_Face has my deepest appreciation for all the work, put into these. For me, this is like every one of these conversions is a new GBA game in itself. Of course, it's all still Doom. But damn!

It is really sad, that she or he seems to be inactive, but it's worth the world to me, all the work that has already been done. I will probably have years of additional fun with all these mods on the go and my trusty GBA :D

Thank you sooo much again for these and I hope you are doing well !!

I share your appreciation of him/her. It is very unfortunate that he/she is no longer active here. Within a few days he/she converted several wads, much to the delight of GBA/NDS owners, and then quietly disappeared into thin air, leaving no trace of him/herself. If that stated was his/her real age (however unlikely) then perhaps this was his/her swan song, I fear. Good luck wherever you are :) or, at worst, R.I.P.

Hey guys, is anyone listening? It would be great if some developer could complete the author's praiseworthy work by converting Final Doom ( TNT and  Plutonia) for GBA PrBoom. Both episodes, clearly vanilla wads, should run smoothly on GBA. With these titles, all 4 official classic episodes would be available on Nintendo's little old console. Anyway I cast the hook, and hopefully some fish will fall for the bait, sooner or later, God willing. 🙏

plutonia and my doom 2 music conversions to .it format for the gba port after painstakingly fixing the scrambled tracks and optimizing them to not hurt performance too much. There is doom 1 music in there that wasnt done by me, however all the doom 2 music was converted by me

My github page for my fork of the gba port which just fixes a few issues I had with the ports (qol improvements): https://github.com/Cavencruiser/GBADoom-kippy-retail-gba-controls-merge-

My apologies for the music being so low quality, but keeping it at full quality of the pc dropped the framerate by like 5 frames, so this was mandatory as I have no coding experience and wouldn't really want to be bothered with optimizing the sound code.

Let me know if you experience any issues like crashes, I recompiled the levels with a modern node builder to reduce all the unnecessary linedefs and nodes or whatnot from the older node builders used in the 90s.

I'd like to try rebuilding my older conversions with the latest release of the doom homebrew port, but I lost all the custom wads from those conversions when my old hard drive failed. But fear not, I will take some interest in trying to continue this as other wads may be possible without crashes now since the unnecessary -o3 optimization flag has been reverted to -o2 in order to free up iwram as -o3 doesn't benefit the gba much at all. Also keep in mind, many updates to the prboom port have happened since the last time I was active, so there were surely more optimizations allowing more freedom with the wad selections.

Also, please feel free to comment if the instrument quality, and volume betweeen songs are unbalanced or just too loud in general, I will fix it.

I wish the PC conversion ROM used standard SRAM protocol so it could be batteryless patched. :hateit:
exactly my feelings too

Would DeTwelve's "Legend of Doom" work?
no total conversions yet, and only vanilla compatible wads im afraid.

Patch the retail version of doom 1 nointro usa to use this conversion. (it has nothing to do with the retail gba port, its more there just as a legal barrier to verify you own a copy)

Also just a little note, I will probably find a way to make plutonias music actually play the doom1 music like it should instead of the doom 2 tracks.

Hey chief, what a nice surprise; so you're back! I'm glad to hear it. I was starting to fear the worst. During your absence many have asked about you and your conversion work; and I see that you have continued with your projects. I hope many will come forward to test them and provide useful feedback. Welcome back.

Edit: While I'm at it, I suggest another legendary wad to port to GBA: Romero's Sigil.

Greetings.

Hey @Bazooka_Face, I tried to patch no-intro Doom.gba (usa, europe) with your Plutonia patch, but my android patcher (UniPatcher) gives me an error. With Doom2.gba it gives me the same error. I have always used this patcher for other wads conversions without issues. What could be the problem? Which file needs to be patched? 🤔

Okay, now it worked. Tested on DS Lite, via Supercard SD: surprisingly fast and smooth, but....... the bgm is horrible, and unfortunately intolerable after a while; the same shrill, hoarse sound as when I gargle in the morning as soon as I wake up... 🤣

Hey Bazooka_Face !

Nice to see, you're back and still active :) I just wanted to thank you for all the work you did, making Doom run on the GBA. It's greatly appreciated on my part and I am sure, also by many, many others.

Just stumbled across this thread and absolutely love the work being done! Thank you so much for converting these wads.

One wad I am surprised nobody asked for.. would it be possible to convert the original nuts wad?

I'm morbidly curious how the GBA would handle such a task!

Obviously not, unless you change it completely. For those who don't know, it's a single map (not an episode nor a megawad) overflowing with enemies, created for limit removing engines, which created slowdowns even on powerful PC. Impossible and fruitless task. In my opinion, a useless waste of time. Many other Doom vanilla jewels could be ported to GBA with profit and satisfaction.

Hello. I just found your thread after a rabbit hole of learning about GBADoom v2.6. I want to convert Earth by Roger Ritenour, as it is one of my favorite PWads. I saw that you created a patch a few years ago, however, I am looking for a GBADoom v2.6 updated patch.

I am busying learning how to accomplish this and wanted to encourage you to continue releasing patches! This port is one of the few ways to enjoy Doom on the Analogue Pocket.

A lot of the PWads you're now missing can be found at Doomworld.

Here is Earth, for example: https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom2/d-f/earth

Cheers,
-Another World

Hey there, welcome back here. It's been a while since you've been around here, right? Here you are practically considered a living legend. As for the author of this thread, after a message written after many years of absence, he has not been seen for three months. I hope your appeal will make him come back here again. For now I consider myself the solitary custodian of this now abandoned thread, and when I can I reply on his behalf. Maybe you can be the next to upload some new converted Doom Megawad for GBA: we all look forward to new developments. Greetings.
