yo Cracker I've tried my hand on Metroid Fusion but I came across a weird glitch, in the trainer menu I can't toggle the cheats on or off

Stop Timers

Can you send me a save file? The area in RAM that is used by default seems to be fine at the start but it may change as the game progresses.

QUOTE(Big Kong Boss @ Nov 7 2009, 11:26 PM) can someone make me a trainer, for mother 3 with the always 16-hit combo code?
I can't seem to make it :/

I'll have to check into that. Is it the translated Mother 3?
yeah it is,

I'll check it out as soon as I get some time to. I am pretty certain that it has to do with the amount of codes being used and/or the area of RAM being used for turning the codes off/on. If it works without the menu then that is the problem.

The problem was due to using a mixture of unencrypted and encrypted codes. The second half of the codes you were using were encrypted and there wasn't a seed code used (type 9 code). Use the following codes instead and it should work fine:

A few pages back I posted about training FF6 Advance, and the sound being really messed up.
Apparently this only happens when I use the Trainer Menu, if I don't use the Menu and just have the codes enabled from the start, it appears to work just fine.

Is there any way to set different codes to be activated by different button presses? Or is that beyond the ability of the trainer maker? I'm not sure where to find joker commands for certain gba games, or if there are any for that matter..

Cheers.

If you could send me a game save then it would help me find the problem. I am pretty sure that it is the same problem that matcon5 just stated -- RAM values getting overwritten by the game and causing some crazy stuff to happen.

If you could also send me a save and the codes used so I can test it out that would help.

I don't have anything implemented for activating codes upon keypress but joker commands can be added to unencrypted codes easily -- or encrypted codes by just encrypting them with CBACrypt with the same (M) code. Using a key toggle would have the same RAM problem... Unfortunately the GBA doesn't have a whole lot of RAM to work with for some games. :/

Actually,I'm using the latest cycloDS firmware which doesn't need any homebrew to play gba games....I'm just booting the game from cyclo GUI.......The problem is I can't find the game save if I use the NOR.....If I can find maybe I will try send you my game save so that you can figure out for me what the problem is......

This is a really great program cracker, I just wish it would work for me. I've tried every kind of code that I can find (Mostly Codebreaker) to get cheats installed into Golden Sun and absolutely nothing is working. If I enable the trainer, it shows up, but the game usually hangs right after pressing enter.

These are some of the codes I'm trying to get working:

One-Hit Kills:
82030900 0001
82030902 0000
82030A4C 0001
82030A4E 0001
82030B98 0001
82030B9A 0000
82030CE4 0001
82030CE6 0000
82030E30 0001
82030E32 0000
82030F7C 0001
82030F7E 0000
820310C8 0001
820310CA 0000
82031214 0001
82031216 0000

25,000 XP Per Victory:
820305A0 61A8
320305A2 0000

Isaac Infinite PP:
8200055A 03E7

Garet Infinite PP:
820006A6 03E7

Ivan Infinite PP:
820007F2 03E7

Mia Infinite PP:
8200093E 03E7

To repeat, nothing works whether I boot up with them enabled or enable them in the game. And the trainer locks up the game if anything is enabled right after pressing enter.

I've tried via the VGA emulator and Slot-2 flashcart without success.

Are you trying to use the codes on the original GS because the codes are for the sequel -- TLA.

Note to the other people with problems: I am not ignoring you but just don't have enough time to spend on testing things out to see if it is GBAATM, the code, or the game's RAM usage that are causing the problems. I will try to take time to look at each of them. If they are known good codes then usually the problem is with using the menu and/or enable/disable with the codes so try with just trainer selected to see if it alleviates the problem.

*head smack* I...can't...believe...I...didn't...see that...Why oh why couldn't they just name Golden Sun 2, 'Golden Sun 2'?

Thanks a mil. cracker.

P.S. It would make me feel alot better (in a way) if you told me it took you hours and hours of testing and debugging to find this out.

NP.

I tested for a little bit with the codes but after it locked up at the second piece of dialog I knew something was wrong with the codes so I googled one of the lines and found the document on gamefaqs that was mistakenly linked to in the the original GS' FAQs area.
rolleyes.gif
I also found it posted on other places as an original GS code so it's not hard to see why you didn't realize it.

Well, that makes me feel a bit better (Sorry to cause you the xtra work). But to be honest the FAQ I got the codes from *did* say it was for TLA, I just didn't read the top and immediately paged down to the codes as soon as I got it.

You were right though, it *was* linked to as GS 1 Codebreaker codes.

Anyway, thanks again. Definately using this for TLA when I get around to it. (At least I know where to find the right codes for it.

Wanted to add to the kudos being heaped on Cracker - both for taking the time to code up such a useful utility and for actually sticking with it and providing on-the-fly tech support. On the whole I've found this prog to be extremely useful and nearly everything works exactly like it says on the tin.

And with the bootlicking out of the way

, here's where I'm getting caught up. In both cases, I'm using v1.9.8.4

Game: Castlevania - Harmony of Dissonance (U)

Issue: When patched through GBAATM, the codes appear to be working fine. However, the idle and jumping sprites for the protagonist are replaced by a flickering conglomeration of background elements. No other sprites (running/walking, objects, and mons) seem to be affected.

This happens regardless of which memory address I choose to start from or the number of wait cycles, enable on or off, whether I include the seed code or not, if I only use one cheat, or if I only input the seed and no actual cheats. When input manually within VBA, the codes work and there are no graphical glitches. Though I'm playing on a flashcart, so this doesn't do me much good.

Codes used: (from the official Gameshark site)

Infinite HP

Infinite Heart

Max LCK

(I've also used the Codebreaker equivalents, acquired from codetwinks, with the same results)

Infinite HP

Infinite MP
02018550 03E7

Infinite Heart
02018794 03E7

Max LCK
02018558 03E7

Game: Megaman Zero 2 (U)

Issue: Patching in the multi-jump code results in strange behaviors. Holding the jump button down for more than a fraction of a second results in the character shooting straight to the top of the screen, sticking there unless the code is deactivated or you execute a downward attack (if the screen has no ceiling, it often counts as a fall-death). If you press attack immediately after pressing jump, Zero's x-coord shifts enough to teleport him to the next individual room in the stack.

When input as a cheat in VBA, the code provides for the character to float upwards at a leisurely pace as long as the jump button is held, then drift down at his normal fall rate when it's released. And there is no teleport effect.

Codes Used:

So, are you able to then bring up a menu that lets you toggle on/off codes that you want to use in the game, or is it that all codes that you put in for a game are automatically turned on?

I'm considering going this route because I'm getting fed up with my EZ4's built-in code handling turning everything (even for US games) into chinese or whatever characters those are, and then not wanting to work at all. but there are just some codes that I would want to use that you really SHOULDn't leave on all the time, either.

You can pull up the menu in-game with A+B+Select+Start but be warned that it won't necessarily work properly when trying to enter in from different graphics modes.

Ex: if there is a 3D window being used in the game (like the title screen of Gunstar Super Heroes) then the menu will be in 3D as well

I made it to be as un-invasive as possible so the game wouldn't crash. Also note that there may very well be corrupted graphics when going back to the game because there is no extra RAM to back up the current graphics data when going into the menu in-game.

A better alternative is to use activators to have the code executed only during a keypress.

Code:
Do something with a button combo is pressed
74000130 0XXX (where XXX is 3FF XORed with the key combo value)
82000000 00FF

You can use a tool I made for DS to get the codes to use for GBA as well. Just check all the buttons you want and replaces the Xs in the code above with code that gets generated.

I believe it is a problem with the all items code you are using. It is a copy of the (M)aster code for some reason. The below code is the one I found to be the good one.
