Hi, want to start off this question by letting everyone know I am the noobiest at modding consoles. I've only done 3DS modding until today and have struggled with this Wii. I have everything I need I believe and have been trying to load Pokemon Colosseum (Japanese version as well as the Celebi bonus disc), only for it to freeze on the Nintendo Logo. I've made sure to make a Memory Card before loading it up, and have even just tried a different game to make sure it isn't a hardware issue (Pikmin, which worked). Not sure if I am able to provide images or what the guidelines/rules are, but if someone is able to let me know and possibly help me out that would be amazing. I'm using a 16gb SanDisk USB stick and a Toshiba 2gb SD card (games are on the stick, everything else is on the SD card).

It's a possibility that your legally obtained iso is a bad dump.
Try getting a better dump.

There's also a chance that your monitor or tv might be incompatible with japanese resolutions, thus, black screen. So if this is the case, it might still have sound. "But other japanese games works", yes, but not all games has the exact same resolution, sometimes games has different resolutions in menus and different resolutions in-game.

Few things to check :
- Redownload or redump your game. Check the hash, and compare it with the one of a known good dump.
- Don't scrub the iso, specially if it's not compatible.
- If you're using a crt, it could be a ntsc signal issue if you have a pal tv. If you're using an hdtv, it's not it then.
- A bit irrelevant, but i recommend updating Nintendont if it's not already on the latest.
- GC games should work on both a FAT32 formatted sd card & usb flash drive just fine, so no issues there.
That's it.

I should have also mentioned that Pikmin was an NA game. I’ve also tried NA Colosseum but no luck there either.

Check the video settings in Nintendont, and force it to PAL60 if you're using a crt, otherwise NTSC & NTSC-J games should work on your HDTV (if that's what you're using).

1 usb sticks are not recomended for nintendont
2 check your iso md5 and compare it with the correct values at redump.org
3 make sure your not forcing settings that might be incompatible,(take a picture of your nintendont settings)

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
