You sure you don't mean 10.7.0?

If so, you cannot use browserhax on that version.

On AuReiNAND's github, read the description.
There's a link to download a zip file.

Within the zip there's a folder called A9LH, get the firmware90.bin from there.

Menuhax does not work on 10.7.

Update then try downgrading again.

You can downgrade it to 9.2 and install CFW (such as AuReiNAND) on it.

I've managed to make it a bit further, however now at this part

1. Go to "Select Patches"
2. Activate the "Enable EmuNAND" and "Disable Signature Checks" patches, then press Start to continue
3. Select "Boot CFW" to enter EmuNAND
4. If you boot into the home menu, you have successfully launched EmuNAND

when i hit boot CFW it just gave me a black screen

Is your sysNAND on 9.2?
Do you have an emuNAND on your SD card?
Since you're new to this, I'd recommend AuReiNAND over Cakes.

Feel free to delete all the Cakes files/folders.
Don't forget to put the firmware.bin file (for your system, either o3ds or n3ds) in the /rei/ folder.

strange, ever since that last issue with Cakes i can no longer get to the homebrew menu, it brings me to a black screen asking me to reboot my 3ds
