I've searched around and tried a few different options in GeckoOS (1.9.3.1), but I can't get officially bought PAL Virtual Console games to display in 60Hz, no matter what options I try. It always automatically reverts to 50Hz/576i.

Any ideas how to do that? Cause there shouldn't be anything hardware-wise that prevents this...

Well, of course it doesn't officially support it, but that shouldn't stop me from forcing it to run in 60Hz. It's possible to do this with emulators, and the Virtual Console is basically nothing else, so it should be doable.

Try the above
I have tried NTSC games (Shinobi, SplatterHouse VC Arcade titles) and they work on my PAL system in 60hz, only after doing the above. Before that they would just go to a black screen.
It should bet the same for running PAL games at 60hz on PAL systems.

Or most surround sound receivers are 3 HDMI in, one HDMI out to tv, and you can select which hdmi in

Its fun, I like it, even tho I'm not a big harry potter fan. Like a wizard rpg. Flying around on a broomstick is cool.

Nuh just takes a min to get used to. I think you can upgrade or buy new broomstick also that are better.
