Hacking Factory Reset and Uncertainties

Purchased a used Wii and wanted to do a factory reset (format the Wii memory) to clear out the old data before I started to hack it. It's a 4.3u system menu.

I was looking through the old data and noticed a 1 block save file for Homebrew. However, I hadn't noticed anything else on the console for Homebrew; no channel, no other information. I've looked through several links posted in these forums but can't find anywhere if it would be safe to factory reset the console, or if doing a factory reset would brick the console.

If a factory reset is safe to preform, great. If not, would someone be able to point me to a tool I'd be able to use to delete pictures and other old data currently on the Wii from the previous owner?

Factory reset will never brick the Wii. It's safe, the old owner just probably forgot to delete the hbc save file.
