DVD to DVD Linux

Hello my Aunt got married recently and got a wedding DVD (it is very well made). Anyway I got the job of coping it. I have Linux Mint 14 on my HP Compaq 6715b. I don't care about any security bypass features in the software I just need a 1:1 copy. Any help is appreciated

Try k3b (http://www.k3b.org/) or Brasero (http://projects.gnome.org/brasero/). I guess you can already find them in Mint's default repository.

Thanks I'm using Brasero. I have a new problem 7.8gb iso to 4.7gb DVD

First most DVDs that are homemade* tend not to be protected so you can more or less just use file copying options (though you will want to burn it back with DVD video settings)- personally I still go through WINE and Imgburn there.

*DVD encryption is broken (read absolutely and irrecoverably shattered via tools even the lowliest computer user can use) but I have still seen it employed by a few people doing smaller runs. I still doubt it will be the case here though.

Dual layer to single layer.... linux DVD transcoder you say. Again I usually say forget it and go wine with DVDshrink but http://dvd95.sourceforge.net/ and http://k9copy.sourceforge.net/web/index.php/en/ are probably where I would start if I am not going for wine. I should also note Video conversion/encoding wonder tool handbrake should have some more here. If you want to get really technical there are other tools (see vobblanker and PCGedit) but save that for the time being.
I assume you know the general mode of operations here- DVD transcoding tools will offer the option to a) remove unecessary audio streams and subs, b) remove (some properly, some by blanking with an equivalent length blank video file- far smaller than actual video but bigger than removal/straight picture) and c) transcoding the video to a lower quality (quite fast and usually works very well).

For the record a small spindle of dual layer discs do not run much these days and it might save you some hassle (I usually suggest not going much above 2 and a half hours for a single layer DVD).
