I really recommend it. I got pretty far and it was a great follow up to the original N64 game. I read that some combat attacks use the analog trigger. I figure Super Mario Sunshine uses it too, but I can't be sure about that since I never played it.

Sunshine does yes. Press lightly for a small spray whilst mobile, full press for a full, focused spray whilst standing still.

I have used both on nintendont (I have a PS4) honesty the price difference is not justified over a GC controller.
