@Marko76 maybe for kids it would be better to set up the 3ds forwarders (see here: https://gbatemp.net/threads/nds-forwarder-cias-for-your-home-menu.426174/, unless youre using a dsi, in which case... nvm) Also, in the settings there is an option to disable showing of folders.

That said, I do agree with some of what you are saying. the option to enable/disable the ability to delete stuff would be ideal, as well as making 'start' actually be start the game (and B to go to settings?) also to the other 3 options, but make hte battery be a % rather than bar!
Yep its a dsi because one of the little shits broke my 3ds lol. I also know you can hide the folders but for the new way of loading dsiware you need the folders option enabled so as you can either pick the dsiware folder or your game rom folder. With the older versions of this app you could have the folders hidden then just press down to switch between ds roms and dsiware.

Oh! I didn't knew. Thanks for lettin' me know man.
Actually, that's pretty convenient… but you know, you can put in one folder everything (DSiWare, ROMS) and then hide the other folders.
Yes but that goes against the way I want to have things set up lol I want the dsiware and game roms separate.

@Marko76 I totally agree with you. The folders thing is annoying when you want to play nes or gb/c games you have to come out of the current roms folder and go into nes or gb. Putting all roms together (Nes, GB, GBC, NDS, DSi) serves no purpose whatsoever. I love the idea of being able to run DSiware in nds format purely for organisational purposes, but this method was not tested thoroughly before users were encouraged to upgrade unlaunch. From my understanding the way unlaunch deals with DSiware in NDS format is to rename/copy the NDS file to "boothis.dsi" on the root of the sd card then renames it back to it's original name once the system reboots (how is that reliable?). I understand people have already lost games when the system has f****d up and not renamed the rom back to their original name. Being able to delete files and folders in DSimenu++ is a useful addition but also being a dad i would totally recommend keeping that as a separate tool only accessible by a button combo that way you could actually have a full fledged file manager with copy/paste/delete options that can only be accessed by those that know the key combo. The holding X button for 2 seconds every time DSiware loads(probably so unlaunch can copy/rename the rom to bootthis.dsi) is incredibly annoying. I love the way that the DSi scene is developing and I think that DSimenu++ is awesome on both my DSi and 3DS's but I think that too many changes have been rushed through (probably in response to USER nagging :) ) without proper testing or possible foresight (children running amuck deleting files and folders on the sd card).

Thank you glad someone else agrees with me lol.

@Robz8 first of all thanks once again for all your hard work on all your various projects.

So I just wanted to give you some feedback on the latest 2 updates for dsimenu++. This feedback is coming from my prospective as a father of 2 young kids who to be quite honest with you are little shits (lol don't tell my wife I just said that)

First of all the new option to delete things from the sd card by pressing x really should have an option to be disabled preferably done in dsimenu++ options using a key combo of some sorts. (I have already had one of the little shits delete stuff I didn't want deleted)
I see.
Well, I can change the X button press to L+X+DOWN, or something.
2nd issue is using the dsi/3ds theme on the main menu when you select a game underneath the game it says start. To my kids this means press start to load the game I have lost count of how many times they press start then moan the game is not starting. Can we actually have the start button start the game and the A button be used for options or can you remove the actual bit that says start.
Only the DSi theme has the START text. The 3DS theme doesn't.
Next I want to talk about the change from dsiware Argv to dsiware.nds. The old Argv way was just more convenient for me an the kids because they knew they just pressed the down key to get to the dsiware then pressed A to load whatever game they wanted. Now I have to have folders showing (I don't like this as gives kids more chances to delete stuff the shouldn't) (also I personally don't like to have the folders showing as it just annoys me for some reason lol) also having to keep the y button held down for 2 secs confuses the hell out of the 2 little uns. So it would be nice if people had the option of either using Argv or .Dsi (plus people are having problems with some games using the new dsi method so another good reason to return agvs.
Well, ok then.
I'll bring the DSiWare argv thing back in the next version, but not as argv, as argv is used for loading homebrew with an argument.
I'm bringing it back as .launcharg, as in, an argument for DSi Launcher (aka System Menu).
Ok so that's the kids out the way so here are some features for the future I personally would love to see included

1. A return of the clock to the main screen
2. A battery indicator on the main screen
3. Fttp file transfer built into the app

Thanks
  1. It is considered.
  2. Also considered.
  3. Not sure if that can be done.

DSiMenu++ v5.3.0: Return of DSiWare .argv (now .launcharg) launching
EDIT: Rev 01 released!

How to update from v5.2.x
  • Overwrite the "_nds" folder, with the new one from the .7z file.
What's new?
  • You can now launch DSiWare via argv files again, except for DSiWare, it's now ".launcharg", instead of ".argv". (Requested by @sion_zaphod, @Marko76, and stack_exception)
Don't worry! The feature of launching DSiWare .nds files has not been removed.
  • As an option, you can now have the START button launch a game, instead of the A button, where the A button will bring up per-game settings. (Requested by @Marko76)

How to save to nes emulator???
You can't use save states at the moment as you need to press the touch screen to bring up the Nes emulators settings but the touch screen does not work using dsimenu++ and the Nes emulator together. Games that had built in saves should be fine.

Edit @Robz8 beat me to it lol.

Whenever I try to check the compatability list, I come by a locked blank document. Could somebody send me a screenshot or something of it opened?

This happens to me if I use the stock android Internet browser or Firefox but it loads fine using chrome for some reason.

I am pretty sure someone has suggested this, but not really looking through the thread to find out. Have you ever considered setting up a method to updating the nds-bootstrap through DSiMenu++ Launcher?
