Daily reminder that this was doable ever since arm9loaderhax was released. Primary reason why this hasn't been done is because it would require reimplementing all of the 3DS system services. (For a similar example, see wine.)

The only real advantages sighax provides over A9LH right now is there's no need for OTP and you can make use of the full FIRM partition to store a payload, whereas with A9LH the FIRM partitions must contain the original 3DS firmware.

EDIT: From what I understand, PSP "CFWs" are merely pre-patched versions of the original PSP OS, rather than something written from the ground up. In that case, the difference would be Luma patches the OS on the fly, which is probably a better method anyway because it enables compatibility with multiple versions.

The vulnerability used for hardmod downgrades (known plaintext attack) would work with sighax, so a hardmod can be used to install sighax on any system.
A9LH does not give us the ability to sign our own firmware files, which is what I was mostly talking about. And one of my main points was the fact that we could in theory completely create a whole custom FIRM if someone wanted to take the time to do so. Or more probable would be to add our own custom code to add or change functionality of the system. Which can be argued that it could be done with A9LH, but you do have to remember it's limited in space in comparison to being able to directly store changes in FIRM. Plus it's a much more permanent solution to a9lh, and as others have stated opens up hardmod hacks even more.

Nintendo, Jan 18 2016 - warez exploits fixed (10.4)

33c3, Dec. 27 2016 - warez exploits revealed (fasthax, soundhax)
Nintendo, Jan ?? 2017 - warez exploits fixed, maybe safehax too

It usually takes about 3 weeks for Nintendo to fix critical bugs. This time, they really need to fix 3 of them, so it may take a little longer. It will come this month for sure.

Of cause they care! Bount, program released etc. You got to see it that way: the only product Wich N makes money with is the 3DS...at least until switch is released. So yes they do care....

they don't care. now they are just hoping for the bounty to work. that will be the only reason to have 11.3 released (or just to block soundhax).
also, switch is coming with huge steps. so they will be focusing on that since the Wii U was a FL0P.
at this time where the scene came, i think that a new handheld might come in since they can't do anything about it.

I always thought that it was funny that every nintendo system has been hacked
To the best of my knowledge there is no Virtual Boy flashcard, and nobody has gotten anywhere close to a DSi cfw (and the only DSi flashcard was blocked on the final update)
