I don't have time to read them these days but still miss them. It's like gaming companies wanted to cut costs so they pretended to care about the environment and used it as an excuse to get rid of them. They were obsolete because everything is explained in in-game tutorials now but I'm still unhappy to see them go. They had nice artwork inside which you can now only see if you pay extra for a limited edition art book.

Boring and basic manual more often there as cartridge space is more expensive. Eh.

Physical manuals have been replaced with in-game tutorials, or their digital counterparts, because the majority of users didn't really care about them (or didn't care enough to raise enough of a fuss) and generally most booklets got thrown out pretty soon and people only keep what's in the CD (I'm old) / DVD / Blu-ray case and dump the rest.
The "ultimate deluxe collectors' editions" usually come with art books and posters but they're insanely expensive, usually.
