I'm wanted to use my Psvita and DS4 controller for remote play on my PS4 but there is an annoying
auto-dim from the screen.
Now with Henkaku and the release of a registry editor for the vita (thanks "some1psv" for the editor)
I thought that the could be a way to disable the auto-dim and....

After some testing I found a way to disable the Auto-Dim :)

Just do the following:
- Make sure your have a Vita 3.60 with Henkaku installed
- Install RegistryEditor.vpk https://github.com/some1psv/RegistryEditor/releases
- start the Registryeditor
- goto the following registry entry:
/CONFIG/POWER_SAVING/", "suspend_interval"
- change the value to 0 (zero)

- goto the following registry entry:
/CONFIG/DISPLAY/", "dimming_interval"
- change the value to 0 (zero)

reboot the vita and your done!!!
Experience you Vita game play without the Auto-Dim :D

A reminder, There is no Auto-Dim but there is also no PowerSaving anymore so your battery will drain if you don't push the powerbutton yourself
!!! also be aware of your screen Burning (don't know if it could burnin but I don't want to try it out ;) )

cheers
Gr.

Doesnt work

OK thank for your response, it does work with my vita, I have a vita 1000 (EUR)

I just found a funny thing.
When you turn your vita on and do not touch a button or screen it will boot and goes to standby but... when you touch a button and go to the
homescreen with all the bubbles the vita stays on.

Can you check the following:
when you go to the settings menu and to the powersaving options, then to the auto standby setting
can you see if there is a time selected 1,3,5,10,30 minutes
In my setting menu there isn't one selected see the attached picture link

Can anyone confirm this does work with your vita.
I Cannot image that I'm the only one in the world were this works :)

As someone who's left a vita on for weeks without dim. Burnin is real. It's shitty. And it's irreversible. Just be aware.

thanks I'll be carefull with this but am happy to finally use remote play with a DS4 controller without touching my screen every minute :D

Does changing dimming interval to 0 but leaving suspend interval as is work?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I had to changed both parameters to disable the auto dim
Don't know why, it would be logical that only the dimming interval set to 0 would solve the problem but sony/vita thinks different about it ^_^

it worked on mine ..100% ... & i always hit the power button to turn it off when im done ... but yepp it works for me

Thanks, this works great. Since I changed it though, i don't remember the default value for "suspend_interval". The dimming_interval I remember was at 900, but do you happen to remember that one just in case I want to switch back?

just found this, trying it out now. that auto dim on metal gear cut scenes is KILLING me.

the default values I had were -
Dimming interval - 900
suspend interval - 600

I haven't checked to see if the suspend interval value changes based on the setting in the settings app, but it might?

I wonder if that was the point of game streaming
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    But it's a dead end
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@Psionic Roshambo, people who cant download it can still play the game

If your internet speeds are fast enough. Streaming 4k takes alot. I used to only have 20mb sec, and 4k struggled. Now I have 300mb sec and 4k plays fine.

@BigOnYa, i only have like 1 or 2 mb sec

Did you feed the hamster in your internet router? It prob died and is running slow now.

@BigOnYa, why did you start saying my pc has a hamster in the first place?

Its actua!ly just a old joke, meaning its slow. Was just kidding around with you.

I bet @AncientBoi has some hamsters hidden somewhere tho....

I think Game streaming should work like this.... Local Hardware able the run the game fine, game engine and common assets stored locally, all FMV and music and textures could be streaming

also @BigOnYa im making some progress on my gdevelop project, implemented various mechanics

They went all in on streaming, should have been more of a hybrid approach

Or free government supplied high speed internet be nice also. Like Obama care. Xdqwerty that's cool, its time consuming but rewarding once done or playable, to see what you've made from scratch. Animations take forever, but worth it.

    @BigOnYa,
and the visual aspect of the game is quite crude (the sprite that looks best is that of the protagonist just because he is a stickman with sunglasses)

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
There is a bullets behaviour you assign to your character, that makes the code easier, under "behaviours"
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
i meant that when the character is pointing to the right, the bullets spawn where they should, but when he is on the right, they move to the right but the spawn point is incorrect
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Itch.io has lots of free assets also. Under the bullets behavior tab, there is a "rotate bullets" option, can try that. Or in the code can try
    - fire bullet Player.X(PlayerDirection)

That's cool tho, I'm proud of you going back to it, not giving up. It is difficult at first to learn, but fun once you get the hang of it. I think I've watched every tutorial video there is, but I still struggle sometimes to get stuff to work right. But gotta keep trying dif things, and eventually you will get it right.
