Internet speeds are going up all the time as is becomes cheaper to provide faster services

With my connection i normally get 5300KB/s down which means size isnt an issue at all for me

Unless the roms are hitting on PS3 Metal gear solid sizes i doubt there is going to be a problem in the near future

What are you talkin' aboot?
PS3 games on average were like 8-21 GBs, and most of us still downloaded them and used them on Multiman. Lol. 2GB is like a flash drive, it's not much.

A BASIC internet user would be able to download 2GBs in about 40min-1hr.

well we really have to ask ourselves one question Did large filesizes stop PSP piracy?
if it didnt for psp, it wont for 3ds...1 gig, 2 gig...

we are at the dawn of SDXC cards anyway...so it is immaterial as far as SDHC limits too

Ontopic: I have a 20MBps DL speed so it doesn't really matter to me. I usually don't keep the ROM's on my system for every long either.

It may decrease the amount of leisure downloads (Like, "Hey, it's free. Why not download this game even though I won't play it.") but won't eliminate piracy or decrease it as a whole.

Basic in a major market area, yeah. Louisiana gets the shit stick. We're barely faster than 3rd world countries.

It certainly did that for the PSP (for me at least).

its not the size but rather the dificulty to rip roms
it is quite obviouse that the dsi never succesfully had its roms ripped either
i think ninty could have prevented rom ripping thus there might be no piracy
no way to rip roms from the device
the carts can be protected too

how many people have that machine?
what is to prevent further security on 3ds carts
most likely their will be one person tops with this thing and i doubt he/she would buy every game just for the people
they would get sued

What do u say?

i say look at the PS3 scene. on average games are 10GB+ and up to ~45GB. this should be expected, games are only getting larger and larger in size. i think this won't have any affect on the scene whatsoever. as mentioned before, maybe there will be less "leisure" downloads, and that really doesn't matter. just now, just like with the PS3/360 scene, you get games that are worth getting.
and if the large file size is what bothers you, then i say welcome to 2011. time to get faster internet service.

One is all it takes to get piracy started. Plus once one person show's it's possible, others emulate.

(Semi-offtopic: I don't think Nintendo would sue their best customer.

Ignorance is bliss. A combination of ftp/usenet/private trackers is the best you can possibly get

On-topic: I'll probably be collecting all 3DS roms just like NDS and PSP. 2TB drives are 70EUR a pop lol.

Lol try PS3/360 piracy 360 games are 8gb and PS3 games can be up to 80gb because they're blu-ray. (Although I believe the biggest PS3 game is about 40gb so yeah.)

NDS ROM's are varying sizes and very few are 256MB. Off the top of my head, I can think of a few that are; Dragon Quest IX, Rhythm Paradise, Pokemon Black and White and Golden Sun: Dark Dawn.
If 3DS ROM's go up to 2GB, I think the same thing will happen where not many games are the maximum size.
Even Wii ISO's can be scrubbed to as little as 100MB from a 4.3GB file.
