So I deleted my 0000001.sav file, thinking that when I boot up the game it will just make a new one but now when I boot my game up I get ErrDisp error with code 0xc8804478. I tried restoring a backup with Checkpoint but I get the same error when I do so. How do I fix this? Thanks

Are you sure that it was a "0000001.sav" file and not a "0000001.app" one? The latter would be one file from the actual game installation, requiring that you reinstall the CIA.

I’m pretty sure it was the .sav file, it was in Nintendo 3DS - ID0 - ID- title - 00040000 - game ID - data

Restoring with Checkpoint fails when the file is missing. It restores the actual save data within 00000001.sav and does not create a new file (Why does it report success then??).
I reproduced the issue on my 2DS:
  • Missing 00000001.sav → restore with Checkpoint reports success but no file is created.
  • Dummy 00000001.sav (0 bytes) → restore with Checkpoint reports success but file remains empty.
  • Dummy 00000001.sav (512K full of 0x00, the size of the actual save of my test game)
    • → restore with Checkpoint reports success but game complains about corrupted save. Initializes blank save data.
    • → restore with Checkpoint once again after initializing. SUCCESS! Save restored.
Reinstalling the CIA will create a new save file. Restoring with Checkpoint should work.

Thanks for the info! I downloaded Sharkive and wanted to make a separate save file for cheat codes. Nice to know Checkpoint’s Restore feature isn’t broken.
