I know this is not the right place for this but it's the best considering the other forums offered here.

anyhow, one day after turning on smash bros melee on my gamecube, the memory card currently inserted (original and not tampered with, not loose either) I was told the mem card was corrupted. The prompt asked me to format it. I chose no and tried browsing for the contents on both my GC and Wii and both asked to format.

Is there any way I can render this mem card, more specifically the contents usable, I don't have a backup of it anywhere and most files on it have a lot of contents unlocked from the games (lots of play time). Can I recover the data? I have not formatted it if that is any help.

thanks for the input everyone, hope this is can be rectified.

has anyone tried recovering from a corrupted mem card and was successful. even if not successful, please share your story so I can give it a go.

Also, I think it's corrupted because it says that it must be formatted in either my wii or gc and previously it did not say that and there were files visible within it.

thanks for the reply sick wario.

You have to format it in the gamecube memory screen.
Your saves will be gone but it will work again.

Did you save a Japanese game on a USA/PAL formatted memcard? Because that can mess up memory cards

I think there is a way to copy files from your memory card to your PC if you have a GC with a BBA (using homebrew), because I remember a dude somehow got a hold of some of his, and converted them for use on Dolphin.
If you want, ask on emutalk.net.

Edit: They might have used a USB memory adapter :/

If you want, ask on emutalk.net.

The app is called gcs (or ctr-gcs), and yes, if you have a cube, BBA and method of booting .dols, you can back up your saves (and even get a full raw dump of the card, which could be useful for the OP with the corrupt card). Theres source code too.

You can get it here if anyone wants it: http://www.linFox.info/nintendo/cube/ctr-gcs_v1.0a.zip

If your internet speeds are fast enough. Streaming 4k takes alot. I used to only have 20mb sec, and 4k struggled. Now I have 300mb sec and 4k plays fine.

@BigOnYa, why did you start saying my pc has a hamster in the first place?

I think Game streaming should work like this.... Local Hardware able the run the game fine, game engine and common assets stored locally, all FMV and music and textures could be streaming

Or free government supplied high speed internet be nice also. Like Obama care. Xdqwerty that's cool, its time consuming but rewarding once done or playable, to see what you've made from scratch. Animations take forever, but worth it.

    @BigOnYa,
and the visual aspect of the game is quite crude (the sprite that looks best is that of the protagonist just because he is a stickman with sunglasses)

There is a bullets behaviour you assign to your character, that makes the code easier, under "behaviours"
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
i meant that when the character is pointing to the right, the bullets spawn where they should, but when he is on the right, they move to the right but the spawn point is incorrect
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Itch.io has lots of free assets also. Under the bullets behavior tab, there is a "rotate bullets" option, can try that. Or in the code can try
    - fire bullet Player.X(PlayerDirection)

That's cool tho, I'm proud of you going back to it, not giving up. It is difficult at first to learn, but fun once you get the hang of it. I think I've watched every tutorial video there is, but I still struggle sometimes to get stuff to work right. But gotta keep trying dif things, and eventually you will get it right.
