OK so I got an Xbox 360, and its hacked but I have a question. I wasn't the one to hack it, so some terms might confuse me

It can play not-so-legit "backups", not sure if its jtag'ed or rgh'ed though, sorry

I figured you probably can't have your cake and eat it too, but I'm asking, if I was to put Xbox live membership and play one of these backups online, would I get stung?

What happens when you press the eject button to boot the console?

If it boots to the MS dash, your drive is flashed.
If it boots to a blue screen, it's a JTAG/RGH.

JTAG/RGH can't go online without expensive stealth servers.
Flashed units can go online.
HOWEVER!
You must patch every backup with ABGX and burn them on a Verbatim DVD DL at 4x speed on a hacked Liteon iHAS or compatible drive of the Burner Max payload tool.

Do you mean press it while its on or off?

Wait nvm, it boots up like a regular Xbox 360, so that means flashed correct?

Well, if there's no additional hardware hanging from the USB port, it's a flashed unit yes.

The only thing you can do is stealth patch and burn retail games disc and play them.
As long as you've stealth patched your backup and properly burned them, you can play on Live.

OK great, cause my uncle also gave me a book of games he burned, but no spare CD's -_-

Any way to check them for the patch after being burned? (Just want to check if they're already patched so I dont have to re-download every single one)

If you get an error message about splitvid, you can safely ignore it.

Also, could you perhaps ask your uncle what version of LT is on the drive?
Could be that you need to update it.

forgot to ask, is it possible to run any kind of homebrew on an xbox, assuming they exist?
I mainly wanna replace the stock media player, as its garbage.

You can always RGH or Jtag your xbox later on, the ones i sold are always RGH And Drive flashed.

If you want emulators + homebrew, you need to go for a hardware mode, which is RGH or JTAG depending on the console. keep in mind that this will make the suer cant connect to Xbox Live, so if you play online, i dont suggest the RGH.

RGH is possible.
However, you need soldering skills or have it hacked for you.
Live is pretty much out of the question unless you want to trust shady XBL servers.

Not to mention that the homebrew for 360 is pathetic.
There's next to no homebrew.
