I know that. that's why i said a bad version.Actually, Gateway came before Sky3DS, and they work in completely different ways.

It is NOT a bad version. It is completely different. Not to mention, a version would have appeared AFTER the original.I know that. that's why i said a bad version.

Sent from my cave of despair where I collect bricks
GW using emunand to run their card with rom, similar to how old DS Flashcard do but without emunand.I know that. that's why i said a bad version.
not useless if you like to use cheats. ntr cheats just aren't good enough yet to completely discard gatewayi understand the price. Gateway comes with an R4 and a bad version of Sky3DS.
Still, Gateway is useless nowadays
I just use my GW card as an extra SD card slot for k9lhax, plenty useful for that.
Also worth noting that without Gateway there could not have been any way to run homebrew before ninjhax or yellows8's CFW leaking.
Layeredfs is a better alternative to this. There is actually NO build time with this since you just throw files onto your sd card. It's also useful for romhack developers who would like to quickly test their games without waiting for them to install.
If making a monopoly is now acceptable, then this world is doomed.Gateway burst onto the scene and made a monopoly
No one uses that for the downgrade from 9.x to 2.1 anymore. Once you get to 9.x, which does involve using it since that is the only option available (and is safer than looking at gateway), the rest guide is flashing a ctrnand image to your console, getting the OTP/installing a9lh, then restoring a nand/updating. N3DS is clicking one button on 9.2 and you are done.it gives me better results than even PlaiSys
Then what is the thing that community stole from GW that OP mention?
I mean, the thing that community stole from GW by reverse engineering, which means GW have it first then community stole it form them.Arm9loaderhax that they called "Fast Boot". However, i'm not aware if they DID stole code on purpose. Also SysDowngrader that they call "Time Machine".
At least the rxtools dev had the decency to say they reverse engineered gw code...I mean, the thing that community stole from GW by reverse engineering, which means GW have it first then community stole it form them.
@The Real Jdbye already tell me that rxTools was based on reverse engineered Gateway code. So was the leaked 4.x CFW.
Don't drag me to that discussion, I just want to know what did community stole since I never be in 3DS hack society at that time.At least the rxtools dev had the decency to say they reverse engineered gw code...

(and before anyone points it out, yeah, this is probably the same as GW's emunand; however this was done completely independantly. took us about a week to get it working !)
smealums cfw was never released in favor of the creation of the homebrew launcher to avoid enabling piracyInsteresting. Smealum on 2013 released a video showing the NAND redirection thing. However he points out:
Does anyone have more information on the subject?
