I think it would be cool if it was possible. the wii u woulf run much faster. i heard a rumor a few years ago that after the 3.0 update nintendo overclocked the cpu at 3.24 clock speed.

The Wii U's central PowerPC is clocked at around 1.2GHz (sauce), and there's three of them, and they're RISC. By comparison, my laptop is only 400MHz and a core better (Quad-core 64-bit Pentium at 1.6GHz) but suffers by being CISC. Everyone also expects far more from a laptop while simultaneously running software that wasn't designed specifically for it. The Wii U has neither of these problems, and has that 400MHz ARM processor (hmm, 400MHz...) to offload all that pesky hardware stuff onto - a luxury PCs don't get.

You might say my laptop isn't very good, but that's a cop-out considering it's a 2016 model designed for a $500-$1000 price point by a well-known company. It's no Pendo, we'll put it that way.

I'm not saying that the Wii U has better raw hardware specs, but I'd certainly say the difference is not as huge as some in this thread are making it out to be.

That said, there are some flags in the SEEPROM that claim to be clock speed multipliers. They're also applied at boot (by boot1) so it's a bit of a risky thing to mess with. Probably best tried on Mocha/redNAND to see how the console reacts.

Since when do we divide the frequency by the number of cores? Three cores at 1.243125GHz should mean that each core is operating at 1.24125GHz. Core frequencies aren't additive. Example: I have a Core i7 2600K rated at 3.4GHz. This does not mean that I have 4 cores, each going 850MHz. Each core operates at up to 3.4GHz. All 4 can be simultaneously going 3.4GHz. You don't divide frequency by cores. That's just not how this works.

PC's get the luxury of compatibility, and much, much, much greater power.

Oops, meant to say that my laptop only has 400MHz more than the Wii U (1.2GHz + 400MHz = 1.6GHz). Weird coincidence, eh? Sorry that I didn't make it clearer.

@the_randomizer, compare PowerPC Assembly to x86 (and cousin x86_64) and say that again with a straight face. There's a reason Apple went with it for years; as did every last generation console. Including the PS3.

I withdraw my statement

only ps5 updated to latest firmware can go on psn, jailbroken ones just don't use psn or they risk getting flagged or banned, altho spouting profanity in online play alredy does that
