Hey, guys! So, I have a DSTwo flashcard since February and I haven't updated my 3DS firmware since (which is 4.5.0-10E). Yesterday, I remembered maybe I needed to do something to prevent my 3DS to force an update, or something (it happened to me once, before I had the flashcard), causing it to brick the flashcard.

What should I do in this situation? Simply update my DSTwo firmware?

update the DStwo like you normally would by putting the "dstwoupdate.dat" in the root and stuff but rename the "dstwoupdate.dat" “dstwoupdateb.dat”. Once you start up the dstwo and its still the black screen, just let it stay that way for about 5 to 10 minutes. Once you do that turn off your ds, and delete the “dstwoupdateb.dat” file from your microsd. then ur dstwo should work again should work again.

source: I've actually done it before and it worked. I found it on some website. It might of actually been GBAtemp.

Sorry for the late answer.

No, no. I didn't update my 3DS. What I wanted to know is what I have to do in order to safely update the 3DS firmware without bricking my DSTWO. Do I simply need to update the DSTWO firmware normally?

Step 1: Make sure the latest DSTWO firmware is compatible with the latest 3DS firmware. (I believe it is)
Step 2: Install the DSTWO firmware normally.
DO NOT ADVANCE TO STEP 3 UNTIL AFTER STEP 2 HAS BEEN COMPLETED.
Step 3: Update 3DS.

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM

You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:

still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
