EDIT the short version is this must be a forum glitch. Occurs in all browsers Chrome, Vivaldi & firefox

Clicking on a thread (the thread title is the thing being clicked) I have never seen before takes me to the bottom of the first page or the bottom of the last page. Or sometimes part way down a page & not properly aligned with the post it has settled on. Clicking on a thread I have made myself (randomly) does the same. Not the first unread post (which would be annoying on its own) but the last post.
Just realised The threads that are doing this are often highlighted/bolded in their forum, but this is happening when the threads are in a forum where I have never clicked on a single thread before, yet some are highlighted & some aren't. - Like the forum software thinks I've been there before & is acting as though I have read certain threads I have never seen before

I marked all forums as read to see if that would reset things. Waited a bit then went into a random forum when a new post was highlighted (in a thread I'd never seen in a section I don't normally go to. The glitch continues..... this is making the forum virtually unusable

a) you don't sound like a particularly nice or friendly person, but
b) there's literally a "hide similar topics" button next to the Similar Threads section, at least on mobile

a) I sound utterly adorable, because I am.
b) No idea why there 'literally' being a hide similar topics function pertains to either of my questions.....but yeah ok:D

As far as I know, the "take a break" screen was because of April Fools. It's a screen from some Wii games.

I don't know about number 1.
Oh my deity it is April the first!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you B-):) Hey GBAtemp I think I may be the first fool to get caught by this today. Give me a dunce hat & call me thicko.:shy::ph34r::lol:
I still have question 1 if anyone knows the answer

GBA is great & I spent much time here in the olden days, good people & good info. And I'm aware that my first world issues are exactly that. But your new nanny software is not so great for us old people (aka as people who had a DS when they first came out).
The forum now has some 'improvements' that are really annoying. I'd like to kill them with a lazer beam turn them off.

1. clicking on a thread I posted (the thread title on the left of the screen, not the last post on the right) but the actual thread takes me into the thread but then straight to the bottom of the page. I want to check the poll so I have to scroll up each time.
If I wanted the last post I would have clicked on that.
2. how do I turn off (permanently) the patronising screen telling me to 'take a break' please? It appeared straight after I came onto the forum this morning, and nearly gave me heart failure. EDIT - I am an April fools dunce
These 'features' presume to decide for me, that what I'm doing isn't what I want to do. As I'm not North Korean I don't need the forum software to override my decisions or give advice on how I spend my day.
Please help me with my first world forum problems.

Thank you muchly, especially to anyone who doesn't yell, or tell me to go to a different forum.

I think it scrolls to the first unread post. Which is normally what you would want.

Hey thanks, The thing is I can click on the last post & go straight there. Also it was doing it even when I had read the last post already. I'm clicking on the thread because I don't want the last post, I want the first one. I spent yesterday scrolling up to the top every time I checked the poll

The last post is not the same thing as the first unread post.

That is very true, but as I said it also did it when I had already read the last post

EDITED to say this has to be a glitch. I just went into the world events forum ( last time I went in there was NEVER, seriously) clicked on a thread I had never seen before & it took me to the last post on the first page. Not the last unread post which would be the first post, again I had to scroll up. I had never been in that forum or seen that thread before.

I think it might be. That doesn't seem to be happening for me even in threads I've been in before. Might be an issue with your browser.

Good point. I'm using vivaldi (chromium based) This is driving me mental, I'll see if it happens in a different browser EDIT it isn't happening in Chrome but it is in Vivaldi browser. Clicking on the same random thread (I hadn't read before today) is taking me to the last post on pge 5 in Vivaldi & the first post of the first page in Chrome. No matter how many times I click into the thread

I is has humble apologies to the forum software, why you cannot get along with my browser!

i'm using vivaldi and i don't get this issue, you might have an extension messing with things or you have a borked install

why do you have a dedicated screenshot extension if it's a part of vivaldi itself?
also i think only one adblock is good enough, uninstall ABP and keep ublock

if those extensions don't do anything try going and clearing your cache (and maybe cookies)

Because I am a fool

EDIT It is doing it again, only in highlighted threads & in every browser. Like the forum thinks I have seen a thread before. Even though I never have been in that section

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
