Hacking Can a 3DS get Banned from Animal Crossing?

So it's no secret that 3dses that used the online features of a copy of sun and moon prior to the game's release got their 3dses permanently banned from using Nintendo WiFi. My question(s) is this: Can hackers in animal crossing get banned as well? What exactly does it take to get these bans? I'm not looking for a definite answer to these questions, just post your thoughts here. Thanks!

Using cheats online i.e. my cheat plugin.
This *may* get you banned, but no reports have been made.
Having a hacked save should be ok.

Ah okay. And just to be sure you mean on club Tortimer only, correct?
On a completely different note, I enjoyed your cheats very much. I only used the movement codes, but I had such a fun time with them.
