Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night E3 Trailer

Just a bit ahead of E3, 505 Games has released a new teaser trailer for the upcoming Bloodstained Ritual of the Night, set to release for PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PS4.

An overview of the game has been provided as well:

It’s the late 18th century England, an era when people’s lives changed dramatically with the ushering in of the Industrial Revolution. You are Miriam, an orphan scarred by an alchemist’s demonic curse, which is slowly turning her skin to crystal. As the curse matures, Miriam drifts into a mysterious coma and awakens ten years later as a castle appears and Hell is resurrected. Now, she must travel to the castle to hunt and kill its summoner, Gebel, battling his demons as she searches for a way to stop the curse.

Everything in this is just beautiful.
My only problem is the boss. It reminds me of Touhou in many ways, while I expected something like Bone Golem or Cerberus or even Galamoth.

This is one of my most wanted games. I think it looks good and am sure it will be great, but damn do those graphics make me appreciate the sprite work of the Castlevanias so much more.
Yeah what the hell? Why 2.5D!? I thought they advertised hand drawn sprites back when this kickstarter began? That feels like it was a decade ago though. Looks like they're going to throw it together at the last minute like they did with Mighty No. 9. Probably spent the kickstarter money on Denuvo.

It may be because I backed this game, but that trailer is tickling my happy button. The good feels actually came first when she got hit by the spear, oddly enough, I guess because it reminds me of the old Castlevania games' emphasis on awareness of multiple enemies from different angles, but I really cracked a smile when I saw the attack animations for all the different weapons. It looks like they really nailed the weight and windup speeds of the animations for the different weapons, and seeing the touchdown endlag-resetting tech is still a thing, at least for that particular sword, makes me really want to get into that combat. Also, that boss looks like fun.

Then again, I did already back this project, so it can't be said that I have no emotional investment in its success, but from what I see this looks like the kind of game I could really get into.

Vampire(?) Chick: "Still not enough of blood..."

Well, no wonder after seeing how she spill that all over the place.

I REALLY hope there is English voice acting. Those Japanese ones on the trailer was pure shit.

Am I the only one who actually liked Symphony of the Night English voices...?

Just looking at it I have very little faith. It looks stiff to control.
Lol, have you ever played 2D Castlevania?

This game is intended to be a spiritual seccessor for that. The target audience are those people that have been wishing for Castlevania to return to its metroidvania roots.

i personally fear it'll be as lackluster as mighty no.9 turned out to be.

but the less stiff controls in the 2d games became, the better those games became.
and i'll be damned if symphony of the night wouldn't have been even better with less clunky controls.

I have and that doesn't mean you should copy everything from the older games. Sometimes improvements are needed.
