Hi,

I'm trying to setup Uneek+DI, using ModMii. I'm looking at the quick guide, and where it says in the "building a nand" section...

12. When ShowMiiWads pops up, type "45e" and click "ok"

13. After ModMii is done your brand new nand is built and in the ModMii folder on your desktop.

14. Copy the four folders: title, ticket, sys, shared1 to the root of whatever device you are going to be using to host your NAND.

These steps do not happen. Nothing pops up, and I don't get the four folders. ModMii closes after downloading whatever it has to download, and then nothing happens. I have a ModMii folder in the root of my C drive, but I don't see any of the mentioned folders there.

ModMii is the latest version; I've been keeping it up to date whenever it tells me there is an update. Should I try deleting it and doing a fresh install?

Update:

1) Have successfully perfomed the Letterbomb aspect of the hack. (I know this is inconsequential, but it was bugging me that I couldn't get that part of ModMii to work)

2) Formatted the SD-Card and USB Drive both as FAT32, with no separate partitions. Just one big 2GB FAT32 partition for the SD-Card and one big 2TB FAT32 partition for the USB Drive. Both were formatted using FAT 32 GUI Formatter.

3) Did the ModMii wizard with the drives properly addressed and attached.

For completeness, here's the ModMii Guide generated this time:

USE THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!

IMPORTANT NOTES:

*This guide does NOT require a Wifi connection on your Wii.
*An SD card formatted to FAT(32) required (Best results are with non-SDHC cards, SDHC will only work on 4.0 or above).
*If you get errors during any of the steps reformat your SD card as FAT or FAT32
*Turn off WiiConnect24 and take out all gamecube memory cards/controllers when modding the Wii (unless instructed otherwise).
*If your Wii ever freezes, hold the power button on the Wii for 5 seconds to power it off then try again.
*Don’t ever accept a new Nintendo update without first googling to see if it’s safe. The last update (to 4.3) was released in late June 2010. If you accept an official Nintendo update after modding the Wii, you may lose some or all of your modifications.
*Never uninstall a system menu or IOS
*Do not install untested wads/themes without Bootmii or Priiloader installed.
*Not all external hard drive's are compatible with the Wii, for a list of which USB Hard Drive's are compatible, see this webpage: <a href="http://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/USB_Devices_Compatibility_List" target="_blank">http://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/USB_Devices_Compatibility_List</a>
*If you have questions, a more detailed guide can be found here: www.sites.google.com/site/completesg/
*This custom guide is great start, but Wii modding is always evolving. Check for updates online, and remember, google is your friend.

1) INSTALLING THE HOMEBREW CHANNEL (HBC) AND BOOTMII
=================================================

Note: if this Wii was previously modified, and it has either the HBC, BootMii as Boot2, or a Forwarder Channel installed, you can use that instead of an exploit.

If using BootMii as Boot2 to install the HBC, copy the 'BootMii' folder from your previous BootMii installation to the root of your SD Card (or download it using ModMii). Then boot your wii, BootMii will load, go To the SD menu, load bootmini.elf. This will load the Hackmii Installer allowing you to reinstall the HBC.

If using a Forwarder Channel, just save the boot.elf/dol from the app you want to load (ie. SD:\apps\hackmii_installer\boot.elf or SD:\apps\MMM\boot.dol) to the location used by your SPECIFIC Forwarder Channel (ie. SD:\apps\usbloader\boot.dol). Then start the channel and the Hackmii Installer will load allowing you to reinstall the HBC. Note, if your forwarder channel only loads dol's and not elf's, launch MMM's boot.dol, then use its "App Manager" to load the Hackmii Installer.

LETTERBOMB EXPLOIT
------------------

REQUIREMENTS: * AN SD or SDHC Card

Go to the "Messageboard" on your Wii and navigate to Yesterday
(depending on your timezone, it could also show up under Today).
Click on the envelope with the pink Bomb icon.

This runs the Hackmii Installer (and silently/automatically installs BootMii as IOS). Use the installer to install the Homebrew Channel (HBC) and Bootmii as Boot2 if possible.

Note: If you get a 'no vulnerable IOS' error message, run ModMii again and this time select the 'Hackmii Solutions' option and follow the new instructions before continuing this guide.

After you exit the hackmii installer, you will be taken to the HBC.
Hit the home button. In the top right corner you will see the IOS used by the HBC.

If the HBC is using an IOS other than IOS58 or your homebrew channel is upside-down, make a note of it as it applies later in the guide (you will have to reinstall the HBC).

If it is using IOS58 and your HBC is not upside-down, you can skip the Reinstall The Homebrew Channel step when you get to it.

2) MAKING A NAND BACKUP
====================

While inside the Homebrew Channel, load BootMii by pressing home and clicking Launch Bootmii.
Press the power button on the wii 3 times to get to the last option, then press the reset button. [You can also navigate with a Gamecube controller]

Press reset to choose the first option, then follow the directions on the screen to make your NAND backup. [Bad blocks are no problem.]

Backup the Bootmii folder, NAND.bin, and keys.bin elsewhere and erase from the sd card (or rename it). You'll need these in case of emergencies, so don't lose them.
Go back to The Homebrew Channel.

Note: if Bootmii was installed as boot2, then it will show up as soon as the Wii is turned on AS LONG AS it finds the bootmii folder (mentioned above) on the root of the SD card.

3) INSTALL A PATCHED IOS236
========================

Start the Homebrew Channel.

VERY IMPORTANT!
In the Homebrew channel, if you do not have a working internet connection already set up, you will see an icon flashing in the bottom right corner of the screen indicating its inability to initialize the network. You MUST wait for the icon to stop flashing OR let it flash for 30-60 seconds before proceeding otherwise these apps will error shortly after being launched. If you encounter this harmless error, power off the Wii and repeat this step from the beginning. To increase your chances of success, add a working internet connection to your Wii via the official Wii Settings Menu, but be sure to say "No" when asked to perform an update.

You only need to perform ONE of the below methods.

Method A: Using IOS236 Installer
--------------------------------

After waiting 30-60 seconds for the HBC to attempt to initialize the network, launch "IOS236 Installer v5 MOD".
Note: This app must be launched using HBC v1.0.7 or higher in order to work properly.

It should say "IOS236 installation is complete!" and return to The Homebrew Channel.

If you experience errors, keep trying and it should eventually work.
If you continue to experience errors you can try using Simple IOS Patcher instead.
Once either method successfully installs IOS236, you can move onto the next step.

Method B: Using Simple IOS Patcher
----------------------------------

After waiting 30-60 seconds for the HBC to attempt to initialize the network, launch "IOS236 Installer".
Note: This app must be launched using HBC v1.0.7 or higher in order to work properly.

Choose "IOS36" (already selected by default) and push A,
Select "Install IOS to slot" and choose 236,
Select "Install patched IOS36" leaving the 4 patches set to "yes" and press A,
Choose "Load IOS from SD card".

Confirm your choice with the A button,
When prompted, push A to continue the installation.
When the installation is over you'll be back at the Main Menu,
Then push B button to exit.

If you experience errors, keep trying and it should eventually work.
If you continue to experience errors you can try using IOS236 Installer instead.
Once either method successfully installs IOS236, you can move onto the next step.

4) INSTALL PRIILOADER
==================

Launch "Priiloader 236 Mod" via the Homebrew Channel

After the Priiloader Installer loads, press + to install it.

You may get an error for "loader.ini" and/or "password.txt" simply ignore these.

After successfully installing Priiloader, access it by powering off the Wii,
then powering it back on while holding reset until you see the Priiloader menu.

You should install some system menu hacks now (by going to System Menu hacks option).

RECOMMENDED HACKS: Block Disc Updates, Block Online Updates, Replace Health Screen, Auto-Press A at Health Screen, Region-Free Everything, remove no copy save file protection, and Move Disc Channel.

The priiloader menu is white by default, you can change it to black in the Priiloader settings if you prefer.

One of the special functions of Priiloader is that it can autoboot any app/file instead of the system menu. Some apps (like crazyIntro) can't be used without it.
For details on how to do so, visit www.sites.google.com/site/completesg/system-hacks/priiloader

5) INSTALL WADS
============

Load Multi-Mod Manager (MMM) via the HomeBrew Channel.
If IOS236 is not already loaded, select "Load another IOS", then select IOS236

Note: If this step fails with error -ret 2011 or other, you may need to retry patching IOS236. If the Wii was previously softmodded, you can try loading cIOS250 (or others like 202,222,223,224,236,249)

In Multi-Mod Manager's main menu, go down to select "WAD Manager".

Install the following WADs from the WAD folder (this list of WADs is unique to the information you provided ModMii).

Be careful not to install any additional wads that may have been previously saved in this folder (they may be safe, but I cannot say for sure).

Hold + for 2 seconds to select all the WADs in the folder. Then Press A twice to install them all.
If any files fail to install properly, they will remain marked for installation, so just retry installing those files.

Your unique list of wads to install are as follows:

* IOS11v16174(IOS60v6174[FS-ES-NP-VP])
* IOS20v16174(IOS60v6174[FS-ES-NP-VP])

Notes: IOS58 is required to launch apps from an SD Card and hard drives formatted as
FAT32, NTFS, ext2, ext3 and ext4. It also supports meta.xml arguments
and is able to launch apps with direct hardware access.
You should always have at least one forwarder channel installed on your Wii,
that way, in the event of accidental update, you will be able to rehack your Wii without relying on a disc based exploit

6) REINSTALL THE HOMEBREW CHANNEL (if applicable)
==============================================

Earlier you should have checked what IOS is used by the Homebrew Channel (HBC). If the IOS used by your HBC is IOS58 and your HBC is not upside-down, you can skip this step.

If the HBC is using an IOS other than IOS58 or your HBC is upside-down, you should reinstall the HBC.

Launch the HackMii_Installer via the HBC.
Use the Hackmii Installer to fix/re-install the HBC (using IOS58). Once you've successfully reinstalled the HBC, you can move onto the next step of the guide.

If the HBC is failing to load the HackMii_Installer (just blackscreens), instead launch the Hackmii Installer using the method described in the First Step

7) INSTALL CUSTOM WII MENU THEME USING MYMENUIFYMOD (OPTIONAL)
===========================================================

WARNING: DO NOT INSTALL THEMES WITHOUT PROTECTION (BOOTMII, PRIILOADER AND NAND BACKUP)
AND ONLY INSTALL THEMES FOR YOUR SPECIFIC SYSTEM MENU VERSION AND REGION!

Launch MyMenuifyMod from the HBC.

Navigate to the theme you would like to install
that corresponds to your specific System Menu Version
then press A to install it.

If you ever decide to restore the original Menu Wii theme,
simply launch MyMenuifyMod again press the start button.

================================================================================
======
THE REST OF THE GUIDE IS PERFORMED ON YOUR COMPUTER IN ORDER TO SET UP YOUR USB-LOADER
================================================================================
======

8) FORMAT THE EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE (if applicable)
==============================================

First check if your drive needs to be formatted by checking the current Format\File-System of the drive.
Open 'My Computer', right-click the external hard drive you want to use, then select 'properties'.
Make note of the Drive Letter of the external hard drive as this will be important later.
If the 'File-System' is already FAT32, you can skip this step.

If you have anything saved on the hard drive, you should back it up now as all the data will be lost once you format it.

Launch FAT32 GUI Formatter from shortcuts on your Start Menu or Desktop

Make sure you select the drive letter corresponding to your external hard drive.
You may optionally uncheck the 'Quick Format' box, then click start.

9) COPY FILES TO HARD DRIVE
========================

Copy everything inside the COPY_TO_USB folder to the root of your FAT32 hard-drive\partition.

10) MANAGE WII BACKUPS USING WII BACKUP MANAGER (OPTIONAL)
======================================================

Launch WiiBackupManager from shortcuts on your Start Menu or Desktop

You can use this program to manage/transfer your electronic backups of Wii Games.
It is very simple to use, but a detailed tutorial on using Wii Backup Manager can be found here:
www.sites.google.com/site/completesg/backup-launchers/iso/wbfs-managers/wii-backup-manager

Note: Original Wii Disc's cannot be read/copied by using a computer (unless you have one of the rare LG Drives that is capable of doing so)

To copy ORIGINAL Wii Disc's, insert the disc into your Wii and...
- Launch Configurable USB-Loader, and hit the plus sign '+'.
OR
- Launch WiiFlow, go to page 2 of WiiFlow's Settings and select "Install", then select "Go".

11) CONFIGURE/CUSTOMIZE CONFIGURABLE USB-LOADER (OPTIONAL)
======================================================

To Configure/Customize your USB-Loader, use the Configurator for Configurable USB-Loader found here:
COPY_TO_USB\usb-loader\CfgLoaderConfigurator.exe

Optional: additional themes can be found here:
<a href="http://wii.spiffy360.com/themes.php" target="_blank">http://wii.spiffy360.com/themes.php</a>

* IMPORTANT NOTES ON DEFAULT SETTINGS:
------------------------------------

Two potentially dangerous features have been locked:
1) The ability to remove/delete games
2) the ability to format a hard drive.

To unlock these features, while in the configurable USB-Loader menu, hold '1' for 5 seconds, then enter the password to unlock these features. The password is 'AAAA', you can change the password/settings by using the Configurator for Configurable USB-Loader. Hold '1' again for 5 seconds to lock the USB-Loader again (or it will lock automatically again once you exit the USB-Loader).

12) AFTER MODDING
=============

After you are done modding your Wii, you can optionally delete any unnecesarry files
by using ModMii's "File Cleanup" Feature.

At this point you're practically done.
Now you should be downloading the latest homebrew applications and setting them up on
your SD Card (or FAT32 USB Hard Drive) so they can be launched via the HBC.

For downloading applications, you should:
* Check out ModMii's batch download pages as it has many popular apps available for download.
* Download Homebrew Browser via ModMii to get many popular apps, but this is an online only Wii application (www.sites.google.com/site/completesg/how-to-use/hbb)
* For those without internet on their Wii, check out this list of Homebrew applications (wiibrew.org/wiki/List_of_all_homebrew).
Another great resource is webrewwii.blogspot.com

After getting whatever apps you want, you should get a boot.dol file and possibly a icon.png and meta.xml.
For HBC to read your SD/USB correctly, your card must be structured SD:/apps/application name/boot.dol
If you have a *.dol not named boot.dol, rename it boot.dol, otherwise it will not be recognized by the HBC.
(optional: the icon.png and meta.xml should be saved in the same place as the boot.dol)

4) Once I accessed Hackmii from the Letterbomb exploit, I followed the guide to the letter.

5) After the NAND back-up step (Step 2), I shut down the Wii and copied the nand.bin, keys.bin and bootmii files/folder to a backup folder on my PC's hard-drive. Then, I used giantpune's nand extractor to extract that nand for future use, if needed.

6) Used the IOS236 Installer v5 MOD for IOS236. No errors.

7) Installed the Priiloader with no errors.

8) Wad install had no errors. After the Letterbomb started working, I haven't had the Shopping Channel wad install problems.

9) Ran the FC (File Cleanup) function from ModMii on my SD-Card and then installed all of the (W)ii and (J)ust for fun software packs from Modmii. Then I ran SysCheck. Here's the report:

SNEEK Installation:

1) I ran the ModMii (S)NEEK wizard and answered Y to all of the options (other than the drive letter assignment and SysMenu Version/Region questions of course).

2) Just to get it out of the way, I took the cert.sys from the backup nand I extracted earlier and put it into the SD-Card's sys folder.

3) Put SD-Card into the Wii and powered it up (bootmii is installed in boot2). Power light is green, slot led is not blinking or anything (it is dark), the TV's backlight doesn't kick on. Started at 7:10 pm. It's now 7:54 pm and nothing has happened. I tried pressing buttons on the remote.

4) Copied the entire contents of my extracted original nand to the SD-Card root. I merged all folders and "Copy and Replaced" all of the files.

5) Put the SD-Card into the Wii and powered it up. <b><i>We're in business!!</b></i> (I think.) How do I verify that I'm running from the emulated nand and not the native nand?

Thank you for the help in getting through these steps. Now that I (presumably) have this working as a SNEEK installation, is there an easy way to get this moved over to my USB drive so I can try the UNEEK+DI installation?

UPDATE: I figured out how to verify I was running off of the SD-Card's NAND. I just booted it from the Bootmii link that is in the Homebrew Channel and it worked as well.

I think I'm going to try to run the full process of installing again, only this time, following the UNEEK+DI branch of instructions. The difference will be that I'm going to copy the full contents of the extracted nand folder into the root of my USB drive.

*fingers crossed*

ModMii is the latest version; I've been keeping it up to date whenever it tells me there is an update. Should I try deleting it and doing a fresh install?
It couldn't hurt, but also check for windows updates

QUOTE(mhzainn @ Oct 4 2011, 07:42 PM) xFlak do you recommend installing cMIOS v10 or not , i am previously used modmii 4.7.1, and tell me *Install Extra Brick Protection
* Do not Install a cMIOS (can be enabled in Options)
and if you think its not dangerous what is the steps? my wii 4.2U
a cMIOS isn't dangerous, but it will only allow older model wii's to play backup gamecube discs, so for a lot of ppl it's useless. To install it, just download it from DL page 4 and install the wad using mmm or any other wad manager.

If u need more of a guide than that, enable the cMIOS option in ModMii, then use ModMii's sysCheck Updater feature from the main menu

@madhartigan,
when running sneek or sneek+di from an emulated, u will not be able to access the sd card menu from the main system menu. When running off ur real nand and u have an sd card in the Wii, u'll be able to access the sd card menu.

U can copy the nand folders from the sd card to a fat32 usb to get uneek running

Update:

xFlak, I've completely updated my Windows 7 installation, and done a fresh install of ModMii. The problem still persists. I never had any problems (aside from never being able to get Uneek+DI to actually work on my Wii; I've tried many times), until I tried again and updated ModMii a week or two ago.

If you are going to use Neogamma to play your Gamecube Backups is always recommended to install cMIOs V10.

Check the Neogamma Thread for more info.

Fast Offtopic:

Today I bought my 4th Wii (I still have the first one, I gave the second one as a gift to my niece, I sold the third one to a friend and I bought this last one because my 2yrs MINI-ME is always watching Videos through WIIMC and I don't have the heart to close WIIMC and start testing things and let him suffer of severe boredom). The thing is I went to my local gamestop and I bought this cheap used Wii, went home and after preparing my softmod files with modmii I noticed something I didn't expect:
It was bootmii@boot2 capable. I was like
ohmy.gif
. I decided to check the Lu version and to my surprise this Wii is older than the first one I bought in 2008. The curious fact is that up to this day I thought that almost every Wii sold in stores were 4.x Fixed BOOT1. It's obvious that the previous owner gave the Wii as trade-in then gamestop just checked if it was working, repack it in a box and sold it again.

I have compiled DML with SNEEK+DI using ModMii...

How exactly do I play gamecube backups? Convert the backups to DiscEX format then place in the Games folder in the root of my SD card?

try extracting a fresh version of ModMii to a new folder on your desktop

@chaosdarkneo,
yup, also make sure to have an original wii or gc game in the disk drive

Heh, thats funny. What DVD does it have then? If it doesnt have the d3 drive Im sure you could get a nice profit from it, since its able to play both backups from usb and dvds

Kinda lame if they sold it for full price though, if its a used product.

Hi Xflak

Thanks for the update, nice new features included ...

Why is the DIP patched IOS70 and IOS80 based on IOS60? There is also a IOS70 based on IOS70 and the same for IOS80 but it does not include the DIP patch. I would like to install the correct IOS for the system menu but still have it DIP patched...

Hello,

I've been meaning to ask this here but have been putting it off for quite some time due to other things I've been doing however, what I would like to know is the following:

1) I use the official nintendo LAN adapter. how do i go about updating the wii to the latest version of modmii? I know it may sound like a rookie question but I've been out of the loop since i modded the wii (on 4.3u if i recall being the latest version)

2) After modding the wii via mod mii, i understand it also gives you the option to configure your hard drive however my concern is the following: can you use the default channel that's installed after running mod mii & simply connect your external hdd after following the guide provided by mod mii or do you have install another usb loader program onto the wii or hdd like usb loader gx? Again i know it's a rookie question but thought i would consolidate all my questions in one.

3) now that my hdd is partitioned as fat32 per the guide, how does it differentiate between ripped games & virtual console games i've purchased (ie. say i want to play xenoblade or what not then later decide i want to play dracula x (tg16 version), do i need to place these files in a particular order for each emulator on the hdd as well as make a game folder type structure for wii games? or is that done automatically after you've ripped the game using wbfs manager? please advise.

@petspeed,
a dip patched IOS60 is basically the same as IOS70/80 except it does not check for the Wii's common key (which would cause region changed formerly Korean Wii's to 003 brick). So you have nothing to worry about when installing IOS60 to other system menu slots. Also, a patched IOS60 installed to the system menu slots for firmware's lower than 3.5 will prevent LU64+ wii's from bricking when downgrading.

@N4M3LE5S,
1) ModMii run's on windows, it will download the files u need to your sd card and generate a guide for u to follow. But only your Windows needs wifi, the wii does not. So it doesn't matter if u have a lan adapter or wifi or neither, ModMii will work for you.
2) After using ModMii to set up a usb-loader, it will instruct u how to format the HDD if necessary and it will also save all the files u need to your usb HDD or sd card. Assuming u've told ModMii u want to set up a usb-loader, then the forwarder channel that comes with ModMii will work right away.
3) Using Wii Backup Manager (not wbfs manager) it will save your games exactly where they need to be (ie. USB:\WBFS\{game name or id}\ID3456.wbfs). These games will need to be launched via your usb-loader. The WiiWare you've purchased will continue to be launched from the main system menu. And if running an emulator u can save roms anywhere on your HDD or SD Card, then after loading your emulator just browse your devices and select the rom wherever u saved it.

Xflak,

Thanks for the prompt reply. I did run modmii through my pc however i know it is now outdated since i last used it a few months ago when i purchased a new wii. it was then when i used it along with the smash stack exploit ( i think that's the name of it) I also followed the guide to set up the external hdd as well however i was just wondering if i would have to do this all over again now that there is a more recent version of modmii or if i can stick to previous verison i used & someway update it via the wii with the lan adapter (sort of like a software update that nintendo puts out though i refrain from those)

the same can be said for the hdd. wil i have to recreate the whole thing again with the new version of modmii? Again please advise. heck maybe i'm just putting myself in circles but please let me know. Thanks again

When I get SNEEK working and after I copy the nand folders to my usb drive, what more do I do to get uneek up and running?

Are there path statements I have to edit so the NEEK is looking at USB:/ and not sd:/?

Not my area of expertise, but there are two different programs Sneek for SD and Uneek for USB. You should just need to use the right one.
