Hi all, been a long time since I've used my M3i Zero in my DS Lite so I wasn't even sure what versions of the various files I was running. I tried flashing to the latest f-core and updating the system folder but the card wouldn't boot.

I decided to start fresh since there were many old files on my sd card. I reformatted my microSD card with the Panasonic formatted, put the system folder from 2.0.0-2U/E/J (25408-SYSTEM_ENG is the file name) on the card, and flashed the f-core (F_CORE_v2.0.2). The card booted up fine using the stock M3 firmware, I was even able to boot to my old EZ slot 2 card. I'm still using a DS Lite so it may not be completely necessary to be current, but for sake of game compatibly I thought this would be the way to go.

What firmware should I use, and how to I "install" it? Just drag the files into the system directory? It has been a while and I'm pretty rusty at this.

It seems that from reading some forum posts, updates to the M3 products are few and far between which is sad. It also looks like Sakura hasn't been updated since February. Should I use an alternate firmware? I'm not too picky about firmware but I do use the cheat options so I'd like that supported. Any recommendations?

Thanks for any help, trying to get back into the swing of things and am confusing myself more and more as I continue to read posts.

is your m3i zero a GMP-Z003? or a non-GMP-Z003?

if its a NON Gmp Z003 then you can use the Quad Boot firmware that consists of WoodM3, YSM3, Sakura and R4i RTS... it gives you the best compability for a m3i zero cart xD

How can I tell which type it is? It is an older cart, maybe first run. The slot to plug the flash cable in is on the opposite side as the micro SD slot (not under it as I have seen in YouTube videos).

Copied the files over to the card for the Quad Boot and all is working. Thanks for the suggestion, I'm familiar with Sakura but will enjoy checking out the alternatives - just glad to have a working cart again!

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
