That's not the actual firmware. That's the OS/Menu/Software.
The firmware is installed to the hardware, and it is what needs to be updated to run on the 3DS.
NO type of Wood or YSmenu or whatever will do it, because they're separate concepts.
If your cart couldn't be updated to run on the DSi, it won't run on the 3DS.

-I think so, it wouldn't work
-The flashcart itself. a flashcard needs to disguise itself as a retail game to get past the 3DS ds mode security for it to work. DSTT/R4DS carts are not able to to disguise like that and therefore won't work with the 3DS. You simply need to buy a Acekard 2i, SCDSTWO or Cyclo iEvo.
