Just thought some of our younger members may find this interesting . at least if you actually pay for your games for some reason.

Actually most places have their own policy anyway and have the right to refuse to sell certain products to people so you can't just go anywhere to buy something that is rated higher then your own age.

You could even have this in writing, have it in video form or whatever but still they can refuse you, to the bigger chains its not worth the aggro of an angry parent going in to complain and risk having them and their friends boycott a place regardless of law.

Of course you'll have a good chance of getting something 18 rated from a off license or a none chain shop due to those owners wanting a sale.

This. Most likely shops will not sell to you regardless.

Plus most of the people running those places are immigrants that don't understand most of the laws to begin with. I can already buy alcohol from the local off license at 17, and the guy gives me extra change because he doesn't know what coins are worth what.

The only time age limits ever posed a problem was one time when someone decided ELSPA (now PEGI) was legally enforceable...... never actually got to play sword of the beserk.
Then again when it mattered for me the "booze cruise" was all the rage and I was a nefarious little bastard anyhow.
Other than that what Nosferadrian said.

@wchill perhaps but family guy were not lying when they did this sketch:

It's called carding people, gotta show photo ID to prove you are over 18. Hell, if I were any store I wouldn't sell to anyone under 30 unless they could show photo ID.

I don't really care as I'm turning 18 in 5 days, but I really found this law a bit ridiculous. My country never had any laws restricting the sale of anything (save for porn and alcohol) to minors. And kids like me bought 18+ games at the age of 8 and guess what, I'm still normal and so is everyone I know. I played Duke Nukem 3D when I was 6! Recently, a law has been introduced that prohibits sale of tobacco to minors - but the kids who smoked before, still smoke. That's not to say I agree with sale of cigarettes to children - quite the opposite; but I think these laws are completely ineffective. If anything, they are boosting piracy rates.
