Hacking About Wood R4...

The R4, a great invention for the DS, unfortunately getting outdated thus games not working. Wood R4, supposivley fixing this is great... But I have a small problem

You see, my saves don't work on R4, nor can I save games, if anyone could tell me a solution to this I'd be very greatful, as I would like to play the sonic classic collection.

I guess you mean you've upgraded from stock to Wood firmware, in which case you just need to rename your save files from .sav to .nds.sav

In any case I don't feel like renaming them, putting Wood R4 on just to find out it doesn't work and having to put it back on again.

Try backing your card up and reformatting it with this

nor can I save games

R4 Wood only works on the original R4 or 1:1 clones of the original R4. It doesn't work on other clones incluing any R4i or R4 SDHC, On those carts it is unable to save games.

In any case I don't feel like renaming them, putting Wood R4 on just to find out it doesn't work and having to put it back on again.

Put WoodR4 on your card, change ONE save file to ".nds.sav" and see if it loads and saves properly.
If it works, change the rest of the files.

If you can't be "bother" to change even one file, then get a game without a save and see if it saves in Wood.


Laziness isn't really an excuse.
You probably expended more effort in making 3 responses than it would to rename a few files..

But yeah, tk_saturn is right, if you have some crap R4 clone (R4SDHC, R4i, R4 Ultra, R4III, etc) it's not going to work.

I think he's spent more time in this thread than it would've taken just to put his sd in the computer, copy over wood r4 and rename one of his save files. That's a strange kind of lazyness.

You really shouldn't have even bother asking for help, then just blew it off as soon as someone gave it to you. That is rather rude and looked down upon since it just means you have wasted the time of the members who put into helping you with your problem, which also means this thread is a complete waste of time and space.
