I have a Japanese 4.3J Wii, soft modded with HBC, Wiiflow, USB Loader GX, CFG, and Gecko. I also have it hard modded with a Wode and Wodeflow.

I have five games I can't get to work no matter what. I've tried multiple dumps of both NTSC and PAL versions, every loader I have, and never have success:

Punch Out
A Boy And His Blob
Go Vacation
Munchables
Kirby's Return to Dreamland (called Kirby Wii in EU)

That last one has some form of AP if I'm not mistaken, but I have no idea how to get around it. The other four I haven't a clue. It should be said I have no trouble with virtually every back up I've tried. It's just these five.

Has anyone had success with these five? Any ideas?

still asking the same questions? ;)

I already replied in all your previous threads/posts about kirby.
Disable all patches (return to, cheatcode, etc.) and use the same game region than the console.

my version of A Boy and his blob (SBLE5G) works with no special setup on my PAL+480p+16:9 Wii. (Tested 5min ago on USBLoaderGX 1231 + d2x v8[56], return to UNEO, no cheat, video game default)
I don't have the other games to test.

Re-try booting the games using the different cIOS and make sure you're running the lastes d2x and Hermes versions, that's all you can do.

Thanks for the responses both of you!

I have tried all of those things you recommend, Cyan, except using only versions from my Wii's region. My Wii is Japanese. I'd rather not play these in Japanese as my kanji reading skills are poor. And some, like Boy And His Blob and Munchables, don't exist in Japanese region versions. Anyhow region differences don't seem to have affected everything else I've tried.

Foxi4: I have tried using different cIOS. How do I update d2x and Hermes? Or how can I tell if I have the latest versions if these?

Wouldn't the WODE run these games regardless of cIOS version, as it is a modchip that should work without softmodding anyway?

So what do you expect? A miracle?
Fact is Fact, you can't meet the criteria, you cant run the game.
You only hope is to change to a game with the same region as your Wii or change your Wii's region. But changing a Wii's region is a risky procedure, I wouldn't trust you on it.

These 5 games are the odd ones for you, why would you compare them to the rest of your collections?

Edit: oh, there is one more option for you, try EmuNand

No need to belittle me.

I don't expect a miracle, I just thought there's something I was missing. I've had problems with other games, asked for help, gotten help, and successfully run those games that were previously problematic.

Metafortress protected game are checking memory all the times, if you run the game through a loader you MUST disable ALL memory patches (game region patch is part of the check, that's why the NTSC-U version is not working on your NTSC-J console).

another method to allow the game to be patched is to use gameconfig.txt method.

put Crediar's gameconfig.txt file on the root of your SD card, or in the cheat path of the loaders (or anywhere else where the loader you are using is loading it from), and launch the game.
USBLoaderGX is still not configured to autoload this file if you don't enable at least one cheatcode, so ... you'll have to cheat (if you don't want to cheat, choose a not invasive one, or maybe try an empty cheat with no effect, it only require that a .gct is loaded to also load gameconfig.txt file). I plan to change that in a future revision to not be forced to enable ocarina to load that file.

The gameconfig was created to use Classic Controller instead of Wiimote, so it includes the metafortress fix (anti anti-patch).

or you can use this converted gameconfig.txt code to Ocarina format directly from the Ocarina menu, which is a good cheat which doesn't affect game's difficulty.

The Classic Controller code doesn't contain the Metafortress protection patch. its totally separate from the protection patch and won't help here.

Well, I suppose in the end it's my Japanese Wii causing the problems.

I updated the D2X and Hermes cIOSs and tried these all again with all of my loaders, and still no luck.

Regarding the Kirby Wii -- it makes it as far as the main title screen and then after that I get a white screen and it freezes.

Post a SysCheck. There's no reason why they wouldn't work on a fully updated Wii.

use 'any region changer' to change the "Game Region Setting" to USA to run a boy and his blob and kirby (don't touch any other settings, as you could get a semi brick)
i'm on J too, you don't need to change your system menu (and it doesn't fix it even if you do)

Let's start with the fact that changing the System Menu's region can lead to a brick. My personal recommendation would be installing PriiLoader and selecting the Region patch, then trying again. You should have PriiLoader installed anyways in case of an emergency. As for changing the game's region, I never had to do that with any game - most USB loaders have region manipulation options already built-in. In USBLoader GX it's under "Patch Country Strings".

I would try EmuNand first. No guarantee though

I have only one Jap game that won't work on my US console (Region changed from Jap and the Jap game works before the change). I don't care about the game so I never tried it on EmuNand myself.

Region changing is really not for noobs.

Well, I'm not going to do the region changing then. I'd rather do without these five games than brick the Wii.

I'll try changing Priiloader region patch settings (although I feel I've done this already) and patch country strings and see how that goes.

Excuse my noobish question, but what is EmuNand?
