-What do I use to transfer ps3 isos to the internal ps3 hard drive ? I have a 14gb usb drive, was wondering if I could use that ? What other methods are there ?

-(When PSN is actually working) Can we connect online ? Can we play all games online ? If not, is there a certain method that can make games that can't be played online playable?

-In the sticky that guides the reader through the softmod after following all instructions and doing the manual patch: Is there reason why we need to load lv2_v9.pkg every time we need to use multiman? When I load up lv2_v9, I get three different options to select from: "/dev_hdd0/ga:# Sysca1136, /dev_hdd0/ga:# PL3 3.55, /dev_hdd0/ga:# Waninkoko V2" which one is the correct selection ?? How do they differ ??

-Does multiman require a disc to play backups ?

If I come up with any other questions, I'll post them in this thread. Thanks in advance.

You could use your usb stick, but it's better to use the Blackbox ftp sever to get games on there.

The reason is that unless you run it, lv2 will stay locked and that is needed to play games.

And I would use PL3 3.55.

And most games do require a original ps3 game.

And can connect online, but not for all games and it's likely you'll get banned quick.

AFAIK, all current methods to connect to PSN from CFW have been blocked, and Sony can easily detect and ban people spoofing 3.60. Generally, if you're on CFW, you cannot use PSN (although you can still download game updates from the Sony servers).

As said, you can use your USB drive, and it's easy to use. Some prefer to use FTP to copy games over, others prefer USB. Try both and see which you prefer. Personally, I have a 1TB USB drive, so I use USB.

From what I've heard, you no longer need to use the lv2 patcher if you've got the BDEMU.BIN installed into MultiMAN. It only existed for the days when MultiMAN did not have a payload built in, and now BDEMU does it better but since it contains copyrighted code (IIRC) they can't include that file in the MultiMAN package and we can't link it here. All I know is that I've never needed to use the lv2 patcher myself.

Many games work without the disc to play, however some do require the disc (it can be any PS3 game disc). I just keep a game I don't care about in the PS3 at all times and problem solved.

EBOOTs are the binary file used to run the game. They do not "ban your profile or your console", they just run the game. Modifying the EBOOTs used to be needed on 3.41 CFW to play newer games. Now there are only a couple games that can't run on 3.55 CFW, and modding EBOOTs doesn't help that, so the practice is obsolete.

-When cfw was up to date with psn, could you connect without being banned ? Can I expect something like this in a future cfw update?

-Is there a guide to the actual process of transferring games to your ps3 via usb (Since I clearly assume you don't just pop in the usb and it just magically happens) what hombrew apps do I need ?

When CFW was up to date, no bans had happened yet so it was basically safe. After patching the holes (3.56) and later the keys (3.60), a clear divide between CFW and OFW emerged. Several tricks popped up to gain PSN access, and each got patched one after another. There's no clear information about banning - some got banned from certain games whilst others lost their PSN accounts, so there's no indication as to exactly how risky attempting to get on PSN actually is (probably a ploy by Sony to prevent attempts to create working "stealth" firmwares, similar to Microsoft). For around 10 days after any OFW update though, PSN will be accessible to all.

For copying via USB, the only homebrew needed is a backup manager (Rogero, Gaia or MultiMAN). Copy your games to "USB:\GAMES\\...". When you load up your backup manager, it'll detect all games located in the correct folders (GAMES or GAMEZ) and display them, ready for launch. Either press X to launch it, or O to copy them to the internal drive (or, if you select a game already on the internal drive or BD drive, it'll give you an option to copy it to the USB drive). That's it.

Note that if your USB drive is NTFS, you'll have to go through an additional step to get it working (details on that in the sticky), and if it's FAT32, then you may have to split the files bigger than 4GB (typically movies, sometimes game data). Split games will not work from the external drive, but I'd assume that's why you're copying to the internal drive in the first place.
