My 6.72 recently got the dreaded cbomb YAY!!
I know there is temporary workarounds like todex & 2.1.3b... GoldHen also includes a fix.
After testing many versions Goldhen fix doesn't work on 6.72 which is a shame and odd.

My questions
1. Mostly use Phive but some newer games need Goldhen. If i use GH 2.3b2 then add just 2.1.3b for cmos fix (it works) could this cause issues like performance, KP, corrupt saves etc?
2. 9.0 ofw fixes cbomb does this also fix keeping correct time after replacing dead cmos battery? and fix trophy information?
My hesitation upgrading to 9.0 is having only 5 kp on 2.1.3b and 0 on GH 2.3b2 from 120+ attempts, needing to use USB and Kiiwii hinting there is something coming to fw lower than 7.50.

Guess there's good reason reactPSPLUS never got a PROPER update above 5.05 or something like a unofficial server or alike (homebrew store) lol to sync the clock. Wonder what was added to 9.0 to fix cbomb could be used in some way with duct tape on lower fw's

It won't fix the clock. You have to sign in and sync to do so. I'd just use goldhen. Devs say you should only stay on lower if on 5.05, so I'd update to 9.00.

The rumour was/is something is coming for <8.00 however at the eye 9.00 is going it may well come for 9.00 too. It’s the waiting game. I’m sticking to 5.05/6.72 rn.

So thats what happened to my CUH-1004A fw 9.00 when i replaced the battery while i was at it replacing the thermalpaste.
When i set the date/time manually it resets after every reboot. I was starting to think i broke something but to fix it i need to let it connect to PSN and thats not gonna happen anytime soon.

9.00 is very stable with the latest hosts like karo (avoid kernel panic with error messages), but there are problems with timestamps (blank), the only solution is with goldhen (temporarily), in 5.05 it worked fine but kernel panics (they can't be avoided) and timestamps work fine,

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM

  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
