There is an official 3ds US app who does that for smash bros wiiu game.
I don't know more about other games or mod.

Reverse-engineering the connection protocol for Smash Bros. and somehow implementing that across the board in the Wii U's native controller drivers would be the easiest way.
Note how this feat would not only not be easy, it would also use up the Wii U's Wi-Fi radio.

It's probably not worth putting all of that into a logical order, but maybe you can make something of that.....unless you just want to use 3DS on Wii U and not play SSB4.

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.+1

You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60
