Nintendo's program would be a good thing if they wouldn't prevent BASIC THINGS such as playing videos from SD Cards and LISTENING TO MUSIC.
again entitled. they dont need to include these features you instead apparently need to research your investments better either that or listen to me bitch because the switch cant cook dinner for me . . . it is what it is, get over it, or get rid of it but why bitch about what it is not

I don't have a power bank, and I would like to watch movies on a not 480p and 4inch screen.
Get a $50 tablet, or get a 2DS, put your mp3's there and convert your movies to 3ds format or get homebrew to watch the movies.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

By the way the switch is a GAME console, not the xbox one.

Basic things. They had NO REASON to not include them.

I have a 2ds. Watching videos on it is a pain in the ass. I have to convert them to a special format and then slice them up into pieces, no thank you.

Use a homebrew application to watch it, or convert it into a cia.

they also had no reason to include them . . . if you look at the way they approached voice chat for example . . . they expect all switch owners to have a smart phone, with that in mind you already have a device that does "basic things" ...

A homebrew app that doesn't even have sound support.

Huh. You have a point. But it's also true that my shitty phone's 4inch 480p screen isn't gonna do much good.

I keep giving out multiple options yet you only talk about one of them...

Convert it into a CIA.
Deal with it and use your phone.
Get a cheap tablet that's decently sized.
Sell your switch seeing as you don't have games for it anyways.
Get another job
Make stuff and sell it

1. Long process, shouldn't be needed.
2. Small screen, shitty resolution.
3. Don't have money.
4. Thank you very much, I have 9.
5. As that is a perfectly viable option and a very fast thing you can do!
6. Already did, bought a Switch on it. Besides, don't have stuff to make shit from.

Homebrew = piracy. Why? Because of the following reasons:
1. Emulators
In order for them to be useful, you have to posess the ROMs. And, according to Nintendo's website:
[...] whether you have an authentic game or not, or whether you have possession of a Nintendo ROM for a limited amount of time, i.e. 24 hours, it is illegal to download and play a Nintendo ROM from the Internet
You can't also dump them, because:
Game copiers enable users to illegally copy video game software onto floppy disks, writeable compact disks or the hard drive of a personal computer. They enable the user to make, play and distribute illegal copies of video game software which violates Nintendo's copyrights and trademarks. These devices also allow for the uploading and downloading of ROMs to and from the Internet. Based upon the functions of these devices, they are illegal.
Since Nintendo still sells old games, and they plan on bringing VC to Switch, it's basically piracy. Also:
U.S. copyright laws state that copyrights owned by corporations are valid for 75 years from the date of first publication. Because video games have been around for less than three decades, the copyrights of all video games will not expire for many decades to come.
So nope. Not a single Nintendo video game is in public domain, so they are still Nintendo's property.
I myself like using emulators, but I don't lie to myself that it's legal. They are legal only without the ROMs, but in reality everyone downloads an emulator to play ROMs (except for some homebrew developers, but they're very tiny minority).
2. Homebrew access leads to more exploits. You start small, then you can make more on what you've built upon. It's been like that with the 3DS. Basically, homebrew access really helps in developing more exploits, which eventually will lead to piracy.

Nintendo, as a company, is doing the right thing - they are protecting they products from piracy, and they are encouraging users to help them. If you made a video game company, would you like to have all of your games being pirated? Maybe for normal homebrew users (those who use it to e.g manage files on the SD card or watch movies or view photos or play free homebrew games) it's bad, but homebrew leads to piracy - most people use homebrew for emulators and piracy.

Also, this isn't a wall of shame, but they're actually doing a right thing, and everyone can gain something from their actions - more games. Devs won't develop their games on a console that allows for piracy (or even homebrew, because, as I've said before - it leads to piracy). Piracy killed PSP, and even though Wii was a success, it lacked 3rd party support. I, and many more Switch owners, don't want that to happen with that console. So stop whining and just buy games, or if you want homebrew use a different device. Or learn how to code, that'd be more useful than making a new thread.

Alright I understand 3-5. But 1-2 is just you complaining, you're talking like it's impossible for you to view movies and music on a portable device while you have two options. Either deal with it and do one or both or deal it with and just don't do it and don't complain.

I rest my case once again. >:|

My opinions, and if I find them inconvenient, it might as well be impossible.

1. PSP didn't get killed.
2. I don't need to dump a game. If I own it, download it from the internet and then throw away my original copy, it is perfectly legal (at least here in the EU)
3. Homebrew does make piracy possible, but Nintendo should somehow make a filtering system instead of blocking harmless homebrew applications.

It might as well be impossible? You're 27, i'm 12. Don't cry how it "might as well be impossible" because you have endless possibilities to get what you want, I just listed the ones I know and are faster to do. (The job one can just help with your no money situation in general.)

For me, those are not options. I "rest my case".

Wait wait wait.. if people are turning in exploits then that's good! Think about it everyone! They turn in an exploit, the system gets an update, and this means WE don't update. We aren't forced to update our consoles. Updates fix or add things. If we don't update then problem solved. I see this as a win/lose situation.
