You will keep your Friend Code and friends with all three methods.

I should also note that the 3DS is a dying handheld anyway. Nintendo has almost no first-party titles left for it, it has been succeeded by the Nintendo Switch, and they will likely end online play for everybody's 3DS in the next 1-2 years.
yea, true, I will most likely get a switch, but my pc is my priority rn, gotta upgrade it

To be clear, my point wasn't that you should go out and buy a Switch to play online instead. My point is that this ban is something that is effectively going to happen to every single 3DS user in 1-2 years anyway, in all likelihood, when they inevitably shutdown 3DS (and Wii U) online play. When the 3DS and Wii U came out, Nintendo shut down DS and Wii online play 1-2 years later.

What's wrong with your PC?

I have a nintendo switch, but I'd rather to keep mine clean as much as possible without getting banned for breaking TOS rules, I'd kind of waiting until Switch support ends in 7-8 years, to full hack switch.

How old is your PC's hardware?

I don't own a Switch and won't until at least Mario Odyssey comes out, but I'll likely softmod the Switch the moment I can physically do so. I don't care a lot about online play, and I have a feeling the scene has learned from its mistakes.

I play Legend of Zelda: Breath of the wild, it's quite exciting, also I'm waiting for that gameand the other great games down in the path.

I would have gotten a Switch immediately if Breath of the Wild hadn't also been released for the Wii U.
