So when exactly is the English version scheduled to be released? I've pre-ordered with psxbox ages ago but requested they delay my order to wait for the English version, might just opt for the Chinese one now though since it seems perfectly usable.

I'm confused... on their site, it says the English PDA software will be released later. Is the PDA software different from the firmware?? Can this software be upgraded to english when they release it later on?? I would not mind buying one now if this "PDA software" can be upgraded later on. Someone please shed some light...

The PDA software is separate from the loader. In the Chinese version it takes up 80MB of the G6 disk space, and can be safely deleted without affecting the loader. I assume the English PDA will be similar, although you'll probably only be able to use the English PDA on the English G6 Lite.

Don't forget, you can use the beta (english language) firmware on your chinese g6 lite and still have full compatability:

For this reason, I don't see any point in going for the english version at all, you might aswell save some cash and get the chinese one.

Also, I would be very surprised if the english PDA did notwork on the chinese G6lite, it is just bootable software... Well, we'll see.

agreed. I just formated my Chinese G6Lite and it wipes everything off the card (not the firmware though as the loader stays intact.) I then simply created the GBA folder and the NDS folder. did nothing special and the U-disk manager still loads the games on the card and it plays fine. I actually just downgraded the firmware from 4.35b to beta 1.0 and so far so good. there is no reason why, when the english PDA is released that it will not work on the Chinese card.

How can you say that with such confidence? It wouldn't surprise me if the G6 team region locked the PDA in the same way they region locked the loader.
true, you never know until you try, but if you have fiddled around with this card at all you will notice that when you put software on it (not the FW, that is very different and only accesable via the GBA boot method) you will notice that you are not really accessing the FW when you are loading software, in fact, you are not loading the software. you are simply dumping it into the root of the card.

Why did they even bother region locking it?
It's because the chinese market is always cheaper. Don't be too angry though, this has historically always been the case and is the reason for DVD player and games console region locking. Selling globally can cause currency, tax (and profit) problems between different countries.

Still though, unusual that a flashcart maker has region-locked, but then I suppose the modern world is becoming smaller, it is so easy now to order from china online. I wont be surprised to see more of this in the future.

[EDIT]
...And I agree with ds6220's statement. There is no reason or evidence that, along with any other software, the PDA software will (or can) be region locked. The chinese PDA works on English G6-lites doesn't it?

Might be worth unstickying this thread now - it's been a good long while since only the Chinese G6 Lites were available.

Can I found this flashcard in 2017? I want to buy one for my old orignal first DS model
it's pretty hard to find one... maybe you can find an user who has one to sell, but that's extremly difficult...
i would suggest to get an ever drive or a ez iv.. it's not worth anymore to get theese old cards that are no longuer sold.. you will end up spending a real buck...
is there any specific reason you want a G6 ? the only reason anyone wants theese would be as collectible, an everdrive is much better and simplier (also new components and support etc)
