Wondering what some of you that are more technical think about the fact that all 3 Xbox one, Wii U and Wii U were on the same HDMI port with a HDMI extender and they're the only ones effected along with the TV? Hard for me to believe that's a coindence.

It is a probable cause.
Look at the recent massive death of equipment suffered by @Cyan.
I think all of it was related to HDMI connections.

Well, sorry mate. I have my Consoles and computer(s) hooked up to a Power Strip, which has a ground. So, my stuff is safe. Just make sure to use a strip with a ground on it, or else that might happen again.
Also, do you have warranties on those things, or no?

Nah they're all past their warranty dates, besides unless you buy a specific warranty (which I never do) it won't cover nature killing your equipment I don't believe.

It seems like all modern power strips have surge protections built into them. If it was any made within the last 5 years you are likely to be safe.

The grounded power strip with surge protection is important.
But still, it is a very good idea to disconnect your expensive electronics during an thunderstorm.

Yes, but the surge protection only works well if you have a ground line in your electrical connection, and it somehow appears that the OP did not.

Get a surge protector, not some cheap one you'd find at the local Walmart or hardware store. Like a high end one. The only thing I lost in the bad storm where I live last weekend was my crappy netgear router that wasn't plugged into the surge protector because all the spots were taken.

How the fuck is UPS responsible for short circuited equipment? Unless you can prove it was delivered that way.
Uninterrupted Power supply..
how would a shipping company save my computer? Heh I guess it, I could ship the computer to myself back and forth so while it stays in the van itwill protect my Computer since it's a metal cage, the thunder will affect the van

So my Xbox one does power on and the power supply appears to have power but it immediately turns off after turning on. I wonder if it could be repaired?

It appears now it was worse than I thought. I didn't have a TV so all I had to go on was if a console would power on or not. My RGH 360 and CFW PS3 both power on, but I get no signal on the TV.

I may just quit gaming or take a long break. Worked very hard to build a massive collection for nothing. Although I take blame for not having a proper surge protector.

I think all of it was related to HDMI connections.
yep, sorry to read someone else is having a power surge issue too.
me it was "just" the hdmi, of all connected device on the same port. The devices still worked and powered correctly. just no picture in/out.
monitor<-PC->tv->psvr->ps4
My TV had 2 hdmi sockets, one with PC + PS4 + PSVR (all fried), and one with other equipment (not fried!).
All equipment were connected to grounded power surge protector APC.
I think my issue is not power surge, but equipment issue which fried other connected ones. (pretty sure the graphic card sent a bad voltage due to hardware defect, so only hdmi were affected, not power outlet)

Sony replaced my PSVR (sent a new PSVR unit, I'll test it this weekend)
Graphic card manufacturer exchanged the card too ! I got a new one same model, I'll be receiving it today or tomorrow.
I'm using an old PC monitor as temp. replacement.
I bought a new tv and ps4.

My old PS4 powered ON but had no hdmi output signal :(
My TV worked fine (tv broadcast) but no hdmi in were working.
My PSVR unit worked only with "one output at a time", either 2D mode or 3D mode, but not helmet+tv at the same time.

My insurance is almost ready to give me money (I have to call today to determine how much they will give me). probably not much, I can't expect as much money than what I bought back.

Thats not entirely true, at Staples we offer both (at least at the store i work at, i always make it a point to my customers that they shoukd go for the ones with surge protection). Power strips alone only provide extra outlets, if you need extra outlets, it makes sense to spend a couple extra bucks to protect your stuff too.

However, during a lightning storm, just unplug all your expensive equipment as i already explained, a surge protector cant handle a lightning strike. Its meant to protect against normal spikes and brownout surges. If lightning strucks, the surge protector and anything plugged into it will be toast

you mean you don't give a fuck about a bomb going off (well, something sounding like a bomb going off)?
