So basically, I have this old, outdated cart. It's a codebreaker lite for the DS: It's more or less just a basic code resource for games around 2005-2008 launch period(for example, has both pokemon pearl/diamond but no platinum). Obviously, I have no need for something like that, when I can just get a action replay if I want to cheat this badly. This thing has been collecting dust, and I want to make it useful. I would like to turn the cartridge into a whole another game altogether. How would I go about this? I know I would be investing in large amounts of time and money, but I want to get started. Call it a little pet project of mine. So, has anyone done anything like this here before? About how much would the tools and ect set me back financially?

...as in "we took a generic flash cart and taped in a microSD card containing a ROM image" bootlegs?

Yeah, hacking those consists of "remove the microSD card and replace the ROM image".
Well actually use this method ^
I wasn't gonna make a page on that, but rather re-flashing the chip, but now that GerbilSoft has given that method, just use that :D

Sorry but I don't think many people own a bootleg anything and want to go through the work of turning it into something else. If anything flashcarts are super cheap, possibly cheaper than a bootleg.
