Nintendo potentially fixes left Joy-Con desync issue

nintendo-switch-joy-con-board-2.jpg

Despite a strong console launch, the Nintendo Switch has been plagued with a few issues. One of the more blatant problems being the way that many people are dealing with their left Joy-Cons desyncing, or just being relatively unstable, in terms of connection. Nintendo even made a statement on the matter, claiming it's not a widespread problem, yet still admitting to the issue existing.

At Nintendo, we take great pride in creating quality products and we want our consumers to have a positive experience. It is common with any new innovative consumer technology for consumers to have questions, and Nintendo Switch is no exception. There are no widespread technical problems, and all issues are being handled promptly, including the reports regarding the left Joy-Con Bluetooth connection. To best support our customers, we continuously update the online consumer support site and provide real-time answers to the questions we are receiving. We want our consumers to get up and running quickly to have fun with Nintendo Switch, and if anything falls short of this goal we encourage them to contact Nintendo’s Consumer Service team. For help with any hardware or software questions, please visit: http://support.nintendo.com.

Luckily, though, it seems like there's a fix for those experiencing this issue. Over at the tech related website, CNET, their writer sent their Joy-Con to be repaired at Nintendo. Afterwards, he opened it up, to see if any obvious changes were made. The left Joy-con desync conundrum has been attributed to signal interference with the antenna. In order to fix that, Nintendo applied a piece of conductive foam to his controller, completely fixing the problem. Interestingly, he proceeded to purchase another Joy-Con for comparison, finding that the circuit board has an entirely new manufacturing code, and works perfectly out of the box, hinting to the fact that Nintendo may have fixed what was wrong with the Joy-Cons now. Those that still have the issue are urged to contact Nintendo's support in your region for a repair.

i just quote, if we say it like this, yours and others opinions are nothing is wrong because you dont have the problem, then ignore the problem and defend - your opinion you expect to enforce.

if others have valid points that go against yours, theyre not entitled to it and end up in a fanboy argument.

you can go back on majority of my posts and will see what its quoting.

end of the day this is the worse nintendo console period, lets go back to when nintendo strived on releasing quality consoles...... they have little care these days and only care about one thing.

that is not an opinion tho, it is fact, if you and its fanboys want to insist this is wrong, then take a good hard look at the console, thing is fanboys are so contradicting do you remember the cube and backwards..... it was all about nintendo having better graphics, ironically they all soon change their tune and now its not about graphics, its bs controllers now make the same old games more fun.

my problem mainly is that all focus is put on copying other gimmicks to give it more hype, gaming wise it falls short, games have evolved, hardware has allowed that to happen, yet when it comes to nintendo your mainly left with the same old nintendo titles and not much else...... even nintendo keep promising to improve its third party support.

so i guess it is trolling or should i say ignorance that people find any excuse to defend, but you always find a nintendo fanboy contradicting, if you use third party as an example...... here somewhere people have stated if nintendo had the third party titles its a bad idea..... yet you find them when an old third party title is ported getting excited for it, even state its superior graphics compared to the last gen consoles that are years old, but if nintendo had the hardware the first time, they could have had the title, not wait years for a port and pay full whack for a title you already own and have played.

you buy a console to play games, not be restricted of them because nintendo want to be cheap, sure some people may own all the consoles, but some dont, but still you should have that option to get as much use out of the console, this is why the wii u failed, this is why the switch didnt beat XBX1/PS4 sales during the same launch period and why it wont ever beat them and take the lead and yes it will be a console that will die because nintendo have not thought about making a console last as long as possible, its just a quick cash cow, come the launch of the next gen consoles, it will die (if it hasnt already) and nintendo again will release another system.

likely be another system using old hardware and over prices..... i wonder what gimmicks they will copy next time to give it more hype.

do you see the point here in when i quote such things?

Certainly when I talk with you I feel like I am talking to a wall.
Again, where is the fanboy?
You feel so entitled to name-calling that you say it once and again, but really... what makes your sight so distorted to talk about a "fanboy".
The only fanatic I can see here is you, if not just tell me... where is the fanboy.
Oh, hell, I should just stop feeding the troll... But at least try to make sense of yourself.
A person that can't tolerate your entitlement is by no ways fanboy. Do you even know what a fanboy is?

I really will leave it already because your stupidity, fanatism and super-effective troll behaviour is making me mad, and for nothing.
I will just report you as an annoying spamming twat and take my leave.

Just block him he's obsessed with trolling these switch forums and says something like "overpriced Nintendo sucks blah blah". You would think if he hated nintendo so much he would go to Ps or Xbox threads and discuss them.

Is these issues only in the left joycon only?

Both joycons work, but desync from time to time in the worst moments. The problem is more severe in the left joycon, but it also happens to my right joycon.

The worst thing is that you don't quite notice in the moment, e.g. playing Fast RMX you start feeling the car is difficult to control or something, then you bump into walls, then you curse the joycon. In Zelda it is more evident, it normally feels like an idiot lag and Link keeps walking in a given direction for some time, you usually fall from cliffs and get cheap deaths, etc.

Im really glad I lucked up and got one without these problems. I posted this in another thread but after going to a friends house today I got to see the joycon and fps problems on Zelda on his switch. His desyncs a few times an hour and it kills him a lot. I also am now 100% sure I don't experience noticeable fps drops in Zelda so it has to be software or firmware issues.

Well, at least I am not getting framerate problems, so the experience is great on TV using the Pro Controller. But those joycon desync problems are a PITA.

@sarkwalvein making you mad? but refuse to see what i quote and my points?

I guess maybe do come across as a troll, but then again i simply quote most that blindly defend it, most i say is based off how the fans are and how they act.

i mean if the fans wasnt deluded and was like, no these are not true, there is no problem, then theres nothing to quote.

you kinda end up in a keyboard warrior battle with nintendo fans because they cant accept people dont love them anymore and when they state why, they cant accept it, when faults like the switch, they cant accept it, yet from your view, i am to accept that my issues and not just me, are just make believe?.

like the wii u, watch the switch in the years to come and everything ive said will come true.

I am a gamer, not a fan, i buy consoles to play games..... is it not understandable to notice why i dont like nintendo anymore like i used to many years ago?

I was actually given a switch as a gift so when fans want to believe i dont own one thus issues are not real, well i do own one.

I'm still kicking myself for not preordering a pro controller because now I can't get one unless I want to pay $100-$125 from eBay or something. I like the joycons a lot when attached to the system in handheld mode but they aren't as great on the controller dock I feel like my hands are too close together but it's not too bad. I'll get a pro controller as soon as they are restocked.

these are where most my quotes are based off, when users are lucky to not have issues, they are adamant that the issues people are reporting do not exist or that its the users fault or they caused it by not looking after the console.

when i point out that it is highly unlikely that a console manufacturer wasn't aware of these problems before launching is outrageous. its not like nintendo or the factory only test one unit off the production line.

and main issue with the switch is that this must have been noticed, but gone ignored, then we add why?

if sony or ms released the switch, i can bet the story would be completely different.

yet i quote those that are like this, im the troll, its ok i understand most people only want to see what they want to see.

and @slingblade1170 - maybe nintendo should have included a default controller, rather than force more money by selling what should be default as optional.

I dont like the controller either, it feels too small, also hate the joycons detached as individual controllers, its too small and id be fucked trying to use the right side because its like been left handed trying to use a right handed can opener.

weird, i never have had desync issues.
mostly only had that issue where if i covered the front sides of my joy cons, especially the left joy con, then the analog stick would behave weirdly and move by its own or something.

but i think the update fixed that by now.

my only issue with the switch i have faced last time was that my right joy con (iirc.) had more battery discharged over my left joy con.
other than that, the biggest issue i face atm. is that i have 0 full games on it TuT"

Great news. I'm glad my Joy-Cons work flawlessly so didn't have to return or anything. :)

Stupid questions.
Did you send the joycons alone or together with the console?
What serial number did you write in the support request? (there is no serial number in the joycons, I think, did you write the console's serial number?)

They asked me to send the console as well but I told them that unless it's a problem with the consoles hardware I would rather not because I have put a lot of hours into zelda and I have a pro controller to use on it for now, so just sent in both joycons, they sent an email with a postage paid barcode and address
