Or the android kit kat, ice cream sandwich or the gingerbread would be cool.
You can make it look like a recovery screen
Fun fact: I've been working on a converter from android boot animation to this format. Unfortunately real life/side projects (both useful and stupid) have hit me hard with this one :/Cute.

At this point I'm even considering a complete rewrite, with the knowledge I gained from this one. Especially due to stuff like screen init vs no screen init and other fun stuff.
I had this idea of using RGB565 - it would reduce the color quality but at the same time you gain speed (192000 vs 288000 bytes in the case of the top screen). As such, instead of hitting ~16.5 MiB/s of read speeds, you'd only need about 10 MiB/s, which is well within the limits of the 3DS (this is for a 60fps animation).
Not much progress will be seen on this thread or the repo, but you can rest assured I'm working on it in the background
. Alongside a complete nuking of the old format. This time I will be more careful with what I release instead of just going all "hey I made this cool thing tonight, maybe someone will like it" on it.

This one should do it. My SD card reader is currently broken and ftpd doesn't like big file transfers, so I don't have a perfect way to test other than qemu-ctr (it appeared to work fine, so here it is). Sorry for the delay, I have too much crap to do
Alright, how do I set this up with ShadowNAND? I have tried everything. I've gotten black screen to bootCTR9 giving me error screens about the config file.
So either I am missing something or I am just dumb. But I even went to the normal A9LH V2 and it only ended up booting into corbenik, so I set up BootCTR9-pre-v1.0 and I get a boot config error.

This makes no sense, what do you mean you're getting errors? Exactly which ones?
With BootCTR9-pre-v1.0, it just says "boot config error" then shuts down at any button press. I tried with ShadowNAND and normal A9LHv2, and for shits and gigs, tried with Luma3DS with stock config file. Then I tried different boot animations and same shit.
With BootAnim9 I was able to get everything set up, but every single boot animation I try don't show the animation at boot, using folder "0" just soft locks the system with a black screen. Naming the folder pretty much anything results in the systems booting, but no animation regardless of the animation I use.
Hmm... this is pretty odd. Try with an older release? The animation I uploaded earlier will work on every version that was released.
By the way, this sounds like a mounting error. Seems the applications can't mount the SD card properly, dunno why.
I would ask if ShadowNAND had something to do with this, but I tested it with ShadowNAND, A9LHv2 with the mini-CFW, and A9LH without the mini-CFW.

I am normally against this, but my troubleshooting seems to be a bust. Would you be able to send me your working setup for BootAnim9? Maybe I am missing something, maybe it's my hardware, ect. Either way, if your set up doesn't work on my 3DS, then I know it's my end and not your end.
It should Say more than just boot config error. Could you post your configuration and its path, indluding the filename?

Here, i set it up for you, It has luma as the Primary Arm9loaderhax on root, and the bootanim9 With that gardivor thing you posted set up as luma payload (Hold Y on boot), and loads the skeith a9lh bin if you boot the animation.
