Yifan Lu Announces HENKaku - A New Native Vita Homebrew Enabler for 3.60.

Earlier today, Yifan Lu, a well-known member of the Vita hacking scene famous for the Rejuvenate hack for the Dev Assistants, has announced that a new (native!) Vita homebrew enabler for the latest firmware version, as of writing (3.60), will be arriving tomorrow at "9:00AM UTC".

The new hack, known as "HENKaku", will require the following:
  • A Vita/PSTV running 3.60
  • A memcard with at least 10MB of free space (internal memory is currently not supported!)
  • An FTP client
  • An internet connection**
**Offline support is now available! Launch the exploit straight from the email app without the need for internet access at all! See the unofficial release thread for more details. (Internet connection still required for installation)

This is a small paragraph of Yifan Lu himself explaining what the properties of this new homebrew enabler does:

HENkaku simply lets you install homebrew as bubbles in LiveArea. It is a native hack that disables the filesystem sandbox. It installs molecularShell, a fork of VitaShell that lets you access the memory card over FTP and install homebrew packages (which we create as VPK files). With vita-toolchain, developers have access to the same system features licensed developers have access to as well as undocumented features that licensed developers cannot use (including overclocking the processors).

The hack has been released at http://henkaku.me ~ Furthermore, the hack is said to be exclusive to 3.60, and there is to be no backports for the time being.

So, now I'm considering buying a Vita. If I do, should I buy a used original or a new Slim? And where can I get a cheap memory card?
A cheap memory card????:rofl2:

For like 64 GB is almost $100 last i checked. But maybe they could be cheaper. Is sony fault for making "PSVita" only memory cards, instead of SD or Memory sicks again. Just wanted that CASH CASH B-)

Ikr I just got a 64gb SD card for $15. Only one of the ways Sony killed the Vita.

I'm sorry I thought you mint the official Sony sd cards for the vita, my mistake.
PS vita doesn't use SD cards, they use "PSVITA" cards. Exclusive to sony and that device, which is why is so expensive to begin with. Since only sony sells them, they can charge high amounts for them, which is terrible cause I think is required to save games. I never actually bought a game card so i dunno if save data is stored on the game or the memory card. Either way, sd cards are cheaper cause is made by many people and more common than vita only exclusive cards that only one company makes.

It's like Comcast: they can overcharge you for something you need because they're a monopoly.

I consider the psvita cards to be sd cards but made only by Sony. Also the reason why the PSVITA cards cost so much probably has to do with the fact that no other company makes them besides sony, which means no competetion for other companys to make the vita cards, which means the prices can be 500 dollars for all the cards if they want.

Anyway, since no one can confirm a solution to my "Unable to play game" Problem, i guess i'll back up my saves and then format system to try and see if i can fix the problem. So i'll be installing games for several hours. :(
