Hey guys, any help here?
It's been a really long time since I've played with my 3DS. Just now I tried to boot it and while it does run everything OK, when Im in gateway mode I press Select and nothing happens. What could have gone wrong? Help ;_;

So I've been banned because of MH Gen. Because of that I have a few question now.
1. Is the ban permanent?
2. What exactly caused my ban? I used private USA header on EUR rom, I also use some cheat while playing online.
But I also used the same header on JPN game (Cardfight Vanguard). Is it possible because of the cheat?

IIRC the ban is 2 weeks the first time and permanent the second time. It's because you cheated. Do not cheat online!
Ok then one last question. I though it was permanent so I end up buying N3DS mh gen edition which will come in 2 days.
Now the question is if I installed gateway will the preinstalled game removed or can I play it on emunand?
If I want to sell my old 3ds can i return it to normal pre gateway state?
Also can I import save from rom to preinstalled game? I hate to start over from the beginning.

I think for Emunand you clone your sysnand to Emunand so the pre-installd game would also be in your Emunand, usable with gateway.
You can remove your Emunand with Emunand9 (format sd, no Emunand) and then update the sysnand to 11.0 in system settings but you might get more money for it by using the guide is linked below and installing hacks on it.
Honestly you should check out the best guide: https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki and install a9lh. It gives 100% boot rate and way faster booting and brick protection to name a few advantages.

Its been a while since I used my 3ds, last time I played cfw didn't even existed and sincerely I don't care about A9LH or whatever, too much risk and work for something that I still don't understand the advantage, the only thing I understood was just booting faster but being locked at only using cias and cheat support (which I dont care much)
So my ofw is 4.4, emunand at 9 I think and gateway card(red) 2.x something I guess, the method I used to boot was the ds sploit (using gateway blue card), my question is, can I update my red card/emunand the normal and easy way to the latest version or do I need to first update my ofw to 9.2? (I really dont want to though)

It's not just "faster", you can boot just as fast as a stock boot. And you're not locked to cia only if you keep using your Gateway (except that instead of using MSET to boot in Gateway mode, you use A9LH), which guarantees the exact same features as before.
Not that I try to convince you, it's your choice, but choose with the right reasons
And for your question, I don't really know. I'd say you at least need the latest launcher.dat, maybe do some firmware update to the red card somehow (I don't recall ever doing this), but then you should be able to boot to your emuNAND and update it. At the very worst, make a backup of your emuNAND before updating it so you're able to come back to a previous state if something stops working.
Okay I'm trying to use time machine to downgrade... And no I don't want to hear follow xyz guide or w/e I know that I can do that but I'm stubborn and want this to work...

If they were unlinked, then they'll stay unlinked. Just make sure you are in EmuNAND, you should see GW3DS in front of your current EmuNAND system version and while still in System Settings, go to -> Other Settings -> System Update (on last page) And that's about it.
The reason people tell you to follow Plailect's guide for OTP/A9LH is because its rather straight forward and about as simple as it gets, plus the version of A9LH you end up with is as close to "universal" and "plug-n-play" as it comes. I understand that you are "subborn and want this to work", but you should understand that Gateway's downgrade methods are dirty at best, and outright glitchy most of the time. If memory serves, their old downgrade process for going back to 4.x or 6.x on an O3DS was prone to bricking and half-downgrades and I honestly haven't heard much better about their current "Time Machine" process for getting to 2.1. Plus if you use their method you will end up with an older (and I wanna say its been modified as well?) version of A9LH that will not work for anything other than Gateway.
That said, if you are still insistent on making the GW process work then you are probably gonna be waiting a while for any support as most users on GBATemp seem unwilling to mess around with the Gateway Time Machine thing when we have a known working process and installer that is more thoroughly documented.
Hi, I havent touched my 3DS in a lot of time, so I havent updated my gateway. I noticed the site hasnt been updated so i dont know if I can update emundand to the last update or if people recommend me to go for one of the other hacks (To be honest I like gateway since I have a big microSD and its supposed to be really safe since I dont use .CIA). I know some people have CF that let them go straight to the games and avoid the time waiting for the 3DS to connect to gateway (is part of the reason I haven't used my 3ds), but i dont if I can do that with my gateway or if the process is easy.
My sysNAND is 9.2 if I remember correctly, and my emuNAND is in 10.3.0-28U and I need a more recent firmware to play the newer games (I think)
Edit: TL; DR Can I use gateway 3.7.1 and update my emuNAND to 11.0 (since the web says it works up to 10.7) . Also should I use a better method?

If you're on 9.0-9.2 with the browser entrypoint, yeah, use a better method. At least menuhax. Even MSET is less ridiculous than the browser entrypoint.
Then, A9LH is obviously better than any other entrypoint but I don't doubt people will come and harass you about it so I don't even have to tell you to Google "Plailect guide"...

To answer your tl:dr question, yes. At the very least go ahead and update your gateway files to 3.7.1 (do NOT grab the 4.0 beta files at this time). Depending on how old your current version of gateway is, you MIGHT be prompted to update the red card as well. Just in case, go ahead and place the updated launcher.dat file on the sd card you use in for the .3ds files. Its small and won't negatively impact you in any way, plus it saves a few seconds/minutes of time in the event you are prompted to update the card itself. Once you have the 3.7.1 files and are inside your emunand, go ahead and update it to 11.0.
As for the other hacks... A9LH really is the best solution, and if you are capable of following detailed instructions then following Plailect's guide (here) will get you there with almost no chance of a brick. The only real downside (as far as using GW with A9LH) is concerned is that Plailect's guide will end with you having a hacked, updated sysnand and no emunand. This is a problem if you only plan to use GW, as GW does not allow you to properly update sysnand in this situation (its why they recommend using emunand). If you ask around on the forums here, I'm sure you can find instructions on how to end up with A9LH on a 9.2 sysnand and updated emunand. Just whatever you do, do NOT use Gateway's A9LH installer.
If A9LH seems to confusing or daunting to you (and despite what many people here seem to think, it is definitely not for everyone) then there are still probably other easier entry points for you (the best being MenuHax), but without more info from you it is a bit hard to make a recommendation. Specifically I would need to know whether you have a N3DS or O3DS. Would help to know your current entry point for loading Gateway as well.

YEah, im using the browser entrypoint with my phone "gatewayGo" app, but it is really annoying.
I have a O3DS-XL (bought on Pokemon XY release), I really dont know anything about this new hacks, I can spend some time reading the guides, but I dont know if I should follow the guides from the start or if I should "clean" gateway from my 3DS (SD?) in any form when I'm using those guides.
Ok since you have an O3DS, you are more limited on what you can do for Gateway (cuz the lazy bums wont update their mset exploit for O3DS).
Best solution is to use browserhax to set up MenuHax, and then use that to load gateway.
if you give me about an hour or two i can PM you a short and simple tutorial on how to set it up, assuming you want to go that route.
