Just one silly question: why does ShadowNAND use a folder named homebrew?
Because SD root is a very very bad place for homebrew. It's basically like a graveyard. So I decided to try and bring a new standard and I've been in talks with many developers on this topic. There's a chance it'll be changed to "/homebrew/3ds/<stuff>" but at least it won't be SD root.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Well, I will show my reasons that why I think that ShadowNAND needs TWL patches and RF (at least RF NS).

- Play any blocked DS flashcard.
- Play Custom DSiWare (Launchers, homebrew, forwarders, etc.).
- Play any 3DS cardridge of any region.
- Play any .3ds rom on sky3ds+.
- Any homebrew's future proof having some of them into the NAND (perhaps HBL and GridLauncher into the NAND).
All in due time. :)

yeah i hate having 101 files dumped on the SD root, personally if your open to recommendations i think "Nintendo 3DS/Homebrew" would be good as the SD would have no additional folders on root (well except luma.....annd for the homebrew launcher....and probably other homebrew apps), i think i made the same suggestion prior to the homebrew launcher being released.......idk i just like clean roots XD

I'm talking to other devs and see if I can convince them to move their folders/files to /homebrew/ or /homebrew/3ds/

LOL who the fuck did that happen to
There was a thread here about some kid who was worried about that. It was a half-joking post. ;p

A better reason that's kind of related to that situation is if you wanted to sell your a9lh system to a store and didn't have a clean backup.

I don't think using the Nintendo 3DS folder is good idea. If anything goes wrong with a homebrew, I don't want it to potentially affect all my games and saves.

Because this isn't about me looking for a good place for MY homebrew. This is about trying to bring a good standard namespace for ALL THE HOMEBREW.
New folder for all cfws will confuse the peoples at the beginning it better stay homebrew just for shadownand

Personally, i think we should keep using the 3ds folder, but more organized!

\3ds
\3ds\Apps (All hombrew apps that aren't games)
\3ds\hbl (Homebrew launcher stuff)
\3ds\hax (All Hax to install exploited game saves)
\3ds\Games (All Homebrew Games

I know that's gonna be difficult,

So keep \3ds like it is with the hbl apps and exploit hax and move everything esle to \homebrew folder
\Homebrew\Apps (All hombrew apps that aren't games)
\Homebrew\Games (All Homebrew Games)

Good idea!!!
I always look at the root of my SD and find myself uncomfortable with a lot of chunk (actually is not chunk, but looks awful seeing a chaotic filesystem.
Hope it comes as a standar.

For me it is very comfortable to look at the root of my SD and find directly what i'am looking for.
It is a good idea to simplify the structure but not to intricate it.
It's only a personal feeling but i think the structure is very good at the moment.

*You also don't get disqualified at a pokemon tournament if the judge decides to check your system for mods by removing the sd card and booting the system. : )

They could easily counter measure on that, by having their own SD card, preloaded with an already set-up luma, with some of their own splash screens. If thoses splash screens show, then they know the system has A9LH installed. It would not be hard for nintendo to check for A9LH this way as well. Really, if we wanted to make it stealth, then an option should be present to rename the file it looks for on the SD card, to launch that payload.

Not only CFWs generates folders/files on the root of the SD, actually a lot of homebrews does (d0k3's tools, Rinnegatamante apps, updaters, JK's Save Manager, etc.). And I personally like to have some secundary CFWs (I have Luma as primary and Corbenik as secundary, and in a future I want a GW and a DSTWO+ to test his new CFW).

How stable would it be to install this on my console which has no hardmod and the "glorified A9LH implementation" version of ShadowNAND?
