Holy cow this is awesome! My good ol' blue phatDS broke, but my R4 is somewhere. I have the original one as well, so I can't wait to try this! I converted my 3DS library and went all digital, so it'll be nice to have not only my R4 working, but to also keep the cart slot from being empty. Thanks!! :)

Was kinda hoping to get my R4 working on my 3DS, but shit's not going well.

Was looking through the thread, saw people with the same issue, and them being unresolved, well, things look grim for me, but I'll give it a whirl.

I'm using the old-school R4, bulky and fat. No padding needed, this shit doesn't like to fit into card slots to begin with. It's currently running wood because, well, why would I run anything else B^)

Anyways, tried booting it up on my 3DS using both the regular launcher and the Wood Launcher and no dice: Black Screen.

I took a look in DevMenu and (*dramatic music*) it says unknown card. It's working fine in my DSL so ???

For reference, I'm running an o3DS on 10.7 with a9lh, Luma 5.4 and just sysNand. Originally started on rxTools on emuNand, then slowly migrated to AuReiNand, now on Luma.

Not sure how important it is, but back on rxTools I had to manually patch my sysnand and emunand for GBA stuff, but I reversed that when making the upgrade to AuReiNand. My GBA stuff still boots so wait no it doesn't.

(horray for figuring out the source of your problem by going over everything before posting)

Okay... anyone got any idea why my AGB Firm shit stopped working, and if just maybe it has something to do with this? I can confirm it was working when I was using AuReiNand, so it must have happened when I switched to Luma. Edit: Fixed

Custom Boot Animations are not worth GBA VC and NDS Carts not working. That shit's uninstalled forever.

Anyways, I got it booting, but I hang on the "Loading..." text.

I'll quickly run through the thread again, see if I see something similar.

You won't sacrifice it. Read the wiki. It links you to instructions to use the path changer software that comes in the Luma zip. It works like a charm.

Many thanks friendo.

As for the cart, it seems someone else got it working by removing Wood from the R4 and reverting it to original firm (ew). Whatev, I'll give it a shot, but I'd rather load Wood directly from it if at all possible.

Welp, no dice. Doesn't seem to respond at all. Everything just acts as if I had nothing in the slot at all. Major bummer. If anyone finds anything out, hit me up. I'd love to get this working.

Did you try jamming a piece of paper in or pushing in on the cart? Or putting it in and taking it out repeatedly? Especially with N3DSXLs R4s have connection problems.

Yeah, I gave it a shot just incase. Still nothin'. DevMenu still doesn't know what the card is either.

@Batt I don't think DevMenu should recognize the original R4. If it sees the cart, even as unknown, then it's good.
Your problem seems to me to be more of a twl_firm patching problem. Try uninstalling twl_firm, then reinstalling a fresh and unpatched one.

Is that safe to do on Luma? Also, GBA and Smash is working again, so do I know it's a TWL problem (Or is that just for AGB patching)?

hbmenu_DSiHybridMode_R4.rar would this one wwork with an r4 sdhc 3ds - dsi 2015 cart?

nope. this is only for a original r4. Yours should work automatically with twl_firm patching, or maybe with stage 1 launcher.

Yes, it's safe.
Mine works without patches, but this allows DSi enhanced HB to be ran from r4's microSD
