I have yet to see any1 say thay have a complete clean downgrader check.I ran that and about 10 files said it was mismatch even thou i have emunand and everything working great.

It is actually impossible to have a completely clean downgrade check. The N3DS added a title in 9.3 that cannot be deleted until after you finish the downgrade, and the O3DS (which I don't think the downgrade checker supports) has like 5 titles that were added in 9.3.

I updated the OP with all of the information that was discovered and details on what titles can safely be downgraded and what can be deleted. Also linked users to the downgrade_check releases page as well as uploading the v1.8 release to the post directly for users.

@moghedien I do hope that was ok. Credit was given to you for the wonderful program .

I have DSP system-module and GPIO system-module version are mismatched after successful downgrading n3ds.

But, honestly, is it really safe to use sysupdater for installing proper version of this two files? Or it can cause a brick even when only two files are installed? I don't use sysnand at all. Load menuhax after turning on 3ds and launch gateway with 10.5 emunand. So, any kind of stuff can't interfere with sysnand. Only with emunand.

I don't think downgrading will ever be "safe", but the risk with only two files should be greatly reduced. However, even before manually downgrading GPIO and DSP I didn't see any bugs or weird behavior either. Better safe than sorry, though.

homu, you can install them safely using old devmenu_2x.3ds from the GW card, did it yesterday.
Oh, thank you for mentioning. I read first post:
If any of these four titles need to be downgraded, you can acquire them from an O3DS 9.2 update/downgrade package for your region. Use sysupdater to install them.

DO NOT UNDER, ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, USE FBI TO DELETE THESE TITLES!!!
DOING SO WILL BRICK YOUR SYSTEM!!!
and thought that is necessary to use sysupdater. But if it's unnecessary and they can be installed via devmenu through gateway sysnand mode - i think it's pretty safe.

It's safe. The brick only happens when installing FIRM files (00040138########).

Alright, so after failing to install FBI on my n3DS's emuNAND, I ran the downgrade checker, and this is what I got:
Code:
[MISMATCHED VERSIONS]

TitleID Vers: Expected Installed Description

0004013000001b02 02048 03073 GPIO system-module
0004013000001a02 05120 06145 DSP system-module

[EXTRA TITLES]

TitleID Vers. Description

0004003000009e02 01031 amiibo Settings

[MISSING TITLES]

TitleID Vers. Description

So I should replace those two mismatched files on my NAND? And I'm really supposed to get the files I use from an O3DS package to put in my N3DS?

Also, once I fix up my NAND, do I have to redo all of the emuNAND stuff, since I originally copied it from the apparently messed up sysNAND?

I also get these results when running the downgrade checker on my O3DS:
Code:
[MISMATCHED VERSIONS]

TitleID Vers: Expected Installed Description

[EXTRA TITLES]

TitleID Vers. Description

0004013000004002 06145 Old3DS nfc system-module
0004003000009e02 01031 amiibo Settings
0004001b00019002 01026 Fangate_updater
0004000100176f00 00000 N/A-undocumented

[MISSING TITLES]

TitleID Vers. Description

Do any of those extra titles need to be dealt with?

@Aroth do you think it's useful to backup Sysnand to file and then restore it after deleting/replacing the mismatched files?
In order to reduce Sysnand fragmentation, if this is a thing at all?

I don't think that would work. Those titles are stored on your Sysnand, so backing up the Sysnand, fixing the mismatched files, and then restoring the backup should in theory restore the mismatched files. About fragmentation, I'm not sure about that. Maybe a format will fix it, if it can even happen?

Oh seems I didn't express myself correctly.
My question is, AFTER deleting/replacing the mismatched files, is it useful to backup Sysnand to file and then restore it?

My opinion is that this would probably not have any positive effect and might, in fact, potentially cause problems. Most NAND backup methods create a 1:1 binary backup of the entire NAND flash chip. This is why some backups are 1.8 GB and others are 1.2 GB. Nintendo used two different chips, with two different sizes, in the N3DS. So any method that restores this backup would restore the data to the exact same position it was in before. To my knowledge even the methods that only dump specific partitions (like CTRNAND, TWLNAND, FIRM0 and FIRM1) do so by creating 1:1 binary images of the entire partition in question, including all empty space.

Even in the event that this was not the case and a backed up and restore image could remove potential fragmentation, I would recommend against the attempt because ANY time you write data to the nand chip you run the risk of bricking the system. While most tools that do so are relatively safe, there is always the chance that the tool could malfunction and/or the user could make an error. The backup file could become corrupted during the process of putting it on the sd card, the I/O process could glitch while reading the file from the card or writing it to the chip. Any number of things are potentially possible. Enough to make it unwise to attempt a nand write except as a last resort to restore from a brick.

Also, I doubt a system format would fix potential fragmentation issues. Very little data is ever actually written to the NAND chip, so there is very little potential for fragmentation to occur. In addition, a system format touches very little in the NAND. All system settings and account data are stored on the SD card itself, so the most a format would do is blank out (or likely recreate) ticket.db and possibly write a new key to movable.sed.

@Aroth After running Downgrade Check v2.0, it said it found two mismatched titles that got updated (i.e. it expected a lower version of them):

Code:
TitleID Vers: Expected Installed Description

0004013000001b02 02048 03073 GPIO system-module
0004013000001a02 05120 06145 DSP system-module

Even though i own a N3DS it's been said you should download an (O)3DS firmware, so i did (9.2.0-20E(Full).zip).
I also downloaded the seperate cia's using 3DNUS, but when i checked the integrity (hash) the DSP module one (0004013000001a02.cia) didn't appear to match:

[cia from downloaded O3DS firmware @ Version 0x1400 (v5120 in decimal notation) according to FBI 1.4.17)]

It's probably another version mismatch and i'll probably need to verify this with FBI:huh:

Results are in!
(No differences according to FBI 1.4.17)

Installed Size: 196608 bytes (0.19MB)

Unique ID: 0x00001a02
Product Code: <N/A>
Platform: 3DS

A hex-editor or program such as WinMerge does show a difference:
(i've 'spoilered' the images as they are rather big)

LFRk0bN.png

and a less accurate view of what's different:

(WinMerge)
GmFcbY9.png

I'll probably start off deleting the amiibo settings title as it's an "extra" (already done)

Does it matter if i delete the GPIO title and install the expected version, or is it better to replace the DSP title in the same run?
(i'm not sure if they can make calls to each other and if it affects anything when only one of them is downgraded).

The files probably are region and/or (O/N)3DS specific?

Amiibo settings can go as it is not needed on 9.2.

Not sure why the other files are different when downloaded from 3dnus vs the one in the update package, but considering that file versions from before 9.5 are not supposed to be available on the nus cdn I would probably use the files from the update package.

The files in question (the two you need to downgrade still) are actually the same on every system, regardless of model or region.
