so the worst part is in soldering right?
if the soldering right, the worst case the device bricked, but can unbrick with raspberry pi method??

it's hard to find someone to do hardmod in my location
The raspberry Pi method is only for Gateway bricks

Do you have a NAND backup from 9.2 or lower?

You pretty much can only brick your unit if you flash a bad NAND dump to it, to prevent this, you should dump at least 3 nand dumps from your console before flashing it, verifying that theyre all the same. You can also brick it by shorting it, or leaking solder over everything, but you can prevent that by being careful.

yes i have, so after soldering, do a nand dump twice or more to make sure the dump is right?
how do i know is same? by size?
So bricked by doing this can be unbrick?

Yes, byte size, or you can also check its MD5 Hash. If theyre identical, then you have identical dumps, and are more than likely good dumps

Sometimes you can unbrick. For example if you flash a bad dump, or if it gets interrupted, you can fix it by reflashing a good dump
However, if you only have bad dumps, and no good dump to reflash it, then its permanently bricked.
It would also be permanently bricked if you fucked up the solder and fried your unit, or somehow permanently soldered the points together to cause a constant blue screen. The former isnt really a brick, and is more of a short circuit. The latter is extremely difficult to do, you'd have to seriously fuck up your soldering.

doohh, just f*ck up when accidentally update my device
found someone can hardmod, but he wont do till have a backup board
but, since n3ds (non-xl) only available in jpn and au, it's hard to find
so desperate till now

Backup board? Whats that? Do you mean a secondary motherboard to replace the first if he fucks it? Why

Just do it yourself, practice for a week or so, then do it. Its not hard. I did it with next to no soldering experience and it went fine

So... I dumped my own nand (multiple times with .img, , bin extensions added to the name of the dump etc) from an N3DS XL console and compared the hashes and they ALL ARE IDENTICALL and I also used both 2.0 and 3.0 USB slots and now, I have multiple questions.

1. How to check if its really a good dump?
2. What exactly should I do in win32diskimager expect clicking on the "Write" button to flash it propertly back to my N3DS XL?
3. Would the hash change if for example I made changes to System Settings (im not talking about updating my sysNAND) or if i add/remove folders on the home screen or whatever (any kind of tiny change)?

the hash would change if you even start the console up properly even if you dont change anything at all, you can check the nand dump is "good" by injecting it into emunand and making sure it boots fine

as for restoring , yeah you just choose the nand dump and choose "write" to restore the backup

"by injecting it into emunand and making sure it boots fine"

emunand created by CFW or flashcard? Is this dump compatible with the Gateway flashcard etc?
yes all cfws (flashcard or rxtoold/reinand......with the exception of the leaked 4.5 cfw, but that doesnt work on the n3DS anyway) use the same emunand setup, you can inject the nanddump to your emunand partition using emunandtool

Using a micro usb connector - does it matter where I solder the cables,as long as the pins on the 3DS line up with those on the SD?
Or am I supposed to solder them to specific points on the connector?

Also same question but with a jst connector.

So I was able to backup and resotre my sysNAND (everything went fine which means "Read and Write successful", no errors, no bootloops etc) but something is very strang/wrong, so Im not sure if its successful. It seems like the default themes, wifi connetions, nintendo DS profile settings etc arent restored from the backup....

Am I missing something?

iirc the wifi settings are stored in NVRAM chip, not the emmc(nand) so wifi settings/ds profile settings will probably stay even after a restore....never really noticed tbh but as for themes that would be defined by the SD contents, so if its the same SD card in the console it will keep those theme settings

my step me something with my old console, using only Dat0 was not able to write / read the nand correctly, but using the 4DATS sorted.
