So across the web I have found many tutorials for using saveFL to extract and restore save data for games, the problem however is that they all seem to assume you have a physical game card or a gateway card. For users or Rxtool it seems to be that we are out of options for converting saves around. Essentially the end goal is to be able to transfer my US save data from monster Hunter 4 .cia to the legit Eshop version I purchased, which is for the EUR version of the game. I'd made a bit of progress in the US version and I'd like to be able to continue that. As I said i use RXtools for my emunand 9.9 and not gateway, and my 3ds is at 9.2 for sysnand, so does that mean I am out of option for converting saves between regions?

I'm not sure what you mean by saveFL, but have you tried SaveDataFiler?

If you install/boot SDF in SysNAND via RxTools then perhaps this tutorial would still apply.

EDIT: I just noticed you were talking about region-swapping saves. This tutorial should apply after you dump your eShop saves using the previous method, but skip to step 13 after you've dumped both your US/EU saves, then re-import them post-modification using the other tutorial. (Wherever it says to launch the Gateway exploit, I think you can still use RxTools because it's just so you can run SDF) Also, make a backup of them in case anything goes wrong.

The process of exporting/importing the save data is simple.

Run SaveDataFiler and look for the serial of the US game in the list (CTR-BFGE), and export the save.

Then navigate to navigate to the folder where the exported save data is stored with your preferred file browser, it'll be stored in a folder named using the game's titleID. In the case of the US MH4U it's 0004000000126300, rename it to match the titleID of the EUR MH4U (0004000000126100).

Then reload SaveDataFiler and locate the serial of the EUR game (CTR-BFGP), then import the save.

While the process is simple, there's no guarantee that the save can be converted. Converting the Japanese save to work with US/EU versions is problematic and resulted in a number of glitches. But I think you should be fine.

The problem is when I use SaveDataFiler is that it doesn't show most of the games that I actually have, so that's where I'm having issues. Out of 20 odd eshop titles on my 3ds + the bunch of built in apps, I only see a list of about 10 titles with saves, none of them being monster hunter 4 US version. CTR Card is at the top as you would expect, then a few 5 digit numbers and a few more in red saying broken, and that's about it (none of which are monster hunter).

Odd. I don't why that would happen I'm afraid.

So I have found a solution. I downloaded SaveDataFiler from another source saying it was a newer version, and then I had a much larger list of saves to choose from. Maybe the older version had complications with emunand 9.9 or something like that, I don't know for sure. So now I have successfully been able to convert my save from US to EU version of monster hunter, and it seem that there were no complications in the process, which is great because now I can continue my game with friends. Thanks for the help anyway guys!
