Hi, I need help figuring out how to add games to my ez flash iii. From what i'm aware of, the ez3 will only show up on older operating systems such as windows xp but I can't seem to get it to show.

I'm using virtual box right now because i don't know hot to load windows xp or get windows xp mode to work on windows 7 with windows virtual pc. I'm wondering if anyone could help me put games onto my ez flash iii. My problem is that when i plug my ez flash iii into the ez writer ii and then i plug the ez writer to my laptop via usb, it doesn't show up in either windows xp or windows 7, and yes I already added the USB on virtual box.

Although it identifies in windows xp, it asks if I would like to install it in which I say yes and then nothing really happens because it's not connected to the internet.

Is there something that I need to install in order to make my ez flash iii show up on my virtualbox so that I could use the ez manager to put games in it?

The EZ3 drivers would not have made it into windows update so you get to manually install them. They should be in the /USB_Drivers/ folder that comes with EZManager.

Once you have installed those then run the EZmode program. If it is greyed out then fine but it gives you an option then select EZ3. EZManager should then see the cart and you can add things accordingly (EZDisk = the larger NAND section, the 256 Mbit section is the NOR).

I don't see any thing for me to isntall in the USB_drivers section of the folder that comes with the ez manager. The only thing I can click on is the "ezwriter" and that's only set up information. Everything else is some type of system file that i'm unable to open up

Update: So i reinstalled windows xp and used the usb_driver folder to install the driver for my m3. Now when I go to the Ez_mode, I have nothing to click on except for the question marks down at the bottom. Everything else is greyed out and I still can't add anything using ez manager

Also, the led on my ez writer II is green now as opposed to red. I don't know what this means

If the LED is green it sounds like it is installed. EZMode was there for those with newer versions of the linker (other than prototypes the EZ1 and 2 shared a linker, the EZ3 had a linker and then for the later runs of EZ2 and EZ3 they made one that did for both).

If you have a GBA game then can you try running EZClient (the EZ1/2 program) and seeing if you can dump a game. You might also try inserting the EZ3 and seeing if you can dump that.

After that what does EZManager detect the EZ3 as? Does it say no cart, something garbled or something else entirely?

I don't think it's detecting

Alright so now i've gotten the usb to detect and i have successfully added games to it. Now the only problem is is that all my games load up to this "Cheat error! continue = a returnB" and then after I press A it loads to a white screen with the gameboy logo.. How do i get my games to load?

I can not recall what the EZ3 ended up with as far as soft reset/hard reset. You can try launching with L and A if you want.

Not sure why you might be getting a cheat error though.

I'm hit with a new problem now: Now when I plug in the the cartridge, the ez3 just turns on to a black screen. I've tried reformatting the card several times and nothing seems to work! It just turns on to darkness

Update: problem solved, I updated the flashcart and now it's back to normal. However, the "cheat error" still occurs when I try to play anything from the psram therefore making the games unplayable. This does not seem to happen when I play games in NOR.

@SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.

I like that games can be fixed after the fact, hate that it's being abused via beta tests... And DLC... I was a 7800 owner back in the day and loved Impossible Mission, turns out I couldn't beat it because it was actually impossible lol

I never knew about it at the time but a fixed version was available but you had to mail in your broken copy lol

So that version is semi rare
