Do NOT use Modmii with vWii, as far as I am aware that generates Wii-exclusive content, including WADs and IOSs. These will ALMOST ALWAYS result in a full brick of your vWii if installed

There is absolutely no risk in installing them officially, it's when you install them in .wad form that it can cause problems (as the Wii U will not correctly accept some .wads as some incorrectly modify the system or, even worse, cause a banner brick). All the same, I THINK any virtual console game is OK to install as a .wad, but DON'T take my word for it, read up and ask around because I might be wrong

damysteryman You should probably add using ModMii to update IOSs as a "red" level, I've seen multiple people on this forum brick their vWiis doing just this
Who cares about warnings? There are no reason to really go beyond the cios stuff when you first install the hbc. "I dropped a match in fire...I did not think the fire warnings were real!!!" Since we can get the vWii keys, and are almost there with full Wii U side access, could the vWii bricks be fused from the Wii U side?

Hello guys!

I have a WiiU softmoded. Basically, I already have the HBC installed. But I'm not sure how to prepare my sd card to install the cIOS d2x, the optional cIOS, USB LOADER GX with the 3.0 with the fix for vWii...
I am completly lost and afraid to do anything wrong. Can someone help me with this?

Sorry for my bad english.

How can I uninstall a channel?

Man, this would had come in handy back in november

ModMii was my go to way to always mod Wii's, and when researching for vWii, nowhere saw someone telling ModMii was bad... back then

Now, I'm waiting for the scene to release a way to restore completely vWii

Quick question. Decide to look into using larger hard drives to store isos in, and some games reach up to 6GB(Xenoblade). Since were using drives formatted through FAT32, how is it possible to load up a game bigger then 4GB?

Games in wbfs format are split in multiple files.
the USBLoaders are reading the split files like it was a single big 6GB file so you don't need to worry.

just use WiiBackupManager (if you are on windows) to copy/transfer your ISO to your FAT32 HDD, and it will split, copy and rename everything correctly.
If you use a backup loader to dump your disc to ISO, it will also split the file automatically when dumping the disc to wbfs file format.

I'd like to bump this thread to raise awareness. I've helped 6 people over the past week fix a Wii IOS36 installed on a vWii (all of whom had their problem fixed, luckily) and one person fix a Wii IOS58 (who, sadly, never recovered his vWii hacks and broke Wii U online play and eShop access due to him having no cIOS). All of whom seemed to assume the vWii is the same as the Wii. IT'S NOT. I don't know why people are insatlling so many regular Wii IOSes, but that's a very bad thing to do. A NAND BACKUP DOES NOT MAKE YOU SAFE. NEITHER DOES CIOS. I almost feel like starting a new topic on this.

Unfortunately, a lot of users are following Youtube tutorial randomly, and often for unrelated issues.

Last user I helped had a bad dump of Zelda skyward word. Instead of testing his dump, he searched how to fix his softmod, and he decided it was a good idea to follow an old (and wrong) Wii Youtube tutorial to install d2x v7 to enable "block IOS reload" on Wii USBLoaders, because zelda was released at the same time as d2x v7 and alt dol became obsolete. every noob on youtube decided that "d2x v7" was a Fix for zelda... and that even downgrading was smart.

Of course, installing d2x v7 broke everything :(
Hopefully, I could fix his vWii by reinstalling d2x vWii v10 over d2x Wii v7.
But I suspect his 236 is also Wii version as wad manager refused to work with that slot.

Users just like to act first, and ask for help later.
no Topic, stickied, tutorial, warning or whatever will help them.
That's just sad :( (for both them and us, as we have to help more of them  )

There is one thing really missing from all the stickies in clear text somewhere - when you mod vWii, do you lose the ability to play online, use the eshop for wii u titles, etc? Does this have any known lasting impact on the wii U right now?

I am sure I am not alone in playing a buttload of smash4 and frequently needing to update as they roll out. If this is a pretty smooth process, awesome! If not, I'll just slap the wii back on the TV if necessary... but I really feel this should be clearly determined one way or the other in the OP of at least this thread, probably a couple other stickies ,too.

No, everything outside vWii is unaffected.

I thought the answer to this was extremely obvious. Not to mention the thousands of threads already about this topic.
Also it is mentioned in the stickies. Maybe people should learn to read
