Hello everyone. I've been away for a while, but now that Monster Hunter X has been announced I want to play it on my PAL console as soon as it releases (it's a japanese game), so I'm interested mostly in spoofing the region lock, not much else. I have a Gateway card with a New3DS that is running 9.0.0 something. I'm seeing a lot of new stuff going on around here, Sky3DS, Pasta and everything else. What would you recommend me to do? This game is set to be released around winter of this year. Thanks!

I have a Gateway, an unexploited 9.2 NN3DS, a Sky3DS to be used as Cubic Ninja on the way. What's the best way to make full use of these 3?

Put Cubic Ninja on Sky3DS, launch exploit, install Emunand/MSET and then play using Gateway? Install games with cia files?
You have it about right I think. Cia vs 3ds off the gateway is a personal preference. I saw a thread the other day where this guy was complaining about via files cluttering up his home screen and he didn't like to use folders. Cia take a while to install and that bothers some. (The type that stares at progress bars). I just do something else like sleep. :)

If you want to make the "best" of your system plan on spending a lot of time on their board reading posts. There is no mega guide that explains it all and it is always changing. Think of it as a hobby and you will be much happier.

If you have a gateway just continue to use it and make sure you keep backups before you change anything. I don't know anything about the game yet so making plans is difficult. Pasta doesn't do anything gateway doesn't so no advantage there. It is possible if GW does not offer higher fw support by then it won't run if that happens you can see if sky is still functioning. Winter is a long time away. Plan on spending an hour a day on here to keep up with all the changes. :)

can i go on miiverse on 9.7 gateway nand firmware or do i have to update to the latest firmware?
Probably you can go on mii verse. I wouldn't update to latest fw unless you are certain it will work for your other needs. You did not give any information on your setup, how can you expect accurate advise?

did anyone test rx tool on 9.8 to see if its supported?
Best place for that information would be in the rxtools thread, I think it is over in homebrew.

if i get a sky3ds, can i play online ? can i get private header without buying a game?
Yes you can play online. There is no such thing as a private header unless you are the sole and only owner of a game, once it is in someone else's hands it has the potential to be public.

I've been hearing about emuNAND's not being able to update to later firmwares without breakage. Is that true? I'm really not too sure because if my New 3DS comes with a lower firmware, I want to use the browser exploit to have a 9.8 emuNAND with a linked NNID for all my new games like MH4U to play with my friends on, and have a 9.0-9.2 sysNAND so I can use homebrew like RetroArch when it's much more stable. I usually like to have a device to play my old console backups on.

For now, that is true.

Hi. I have a 9.1.0-20J new 3ds xl. It has gateway already installed using the mset changed system settings. Now, I don't like the face tracking 3d and I want to turn it off. Is there a way I can do this? Without just saying turn the 3d off, which I actually want on.

Also, I want to use MH4U online but it says I have to agree to terms and services. I do that and it will say I have to agree. How do I update my emunand to 9.5 using a game card on my red gateway card? Will this allow me to go online and use streetpass or I just have to wait? The game is US version, if needed.

Thanks.

I recently bought a Ocarina of Time 3DS console and it came with firmware 2.1.something and I updated to 4.5.0-4U with the Animal Crossing cart. Now i've been trying to install the Ninjhax exploit, however on site they only have QR codes for firmwares with "-7" and up at the end. Such as "4.5.0-7U" or "8.1.0-7U".

I've tried SMT IV, Animal Crossing, Marvel Super Heros, and Smash Bros. and they all tell me it will install a firmware with "-4" at the end. Any help with this situation would be much appreciated.

The number after the dash is the version of your browser. Card updates don't include the browser, which is why they all list -4. Since you are on 4.5.0, you should be able to use the MSET exploit, but that will require a DS flash card, I believe. If you have one that works on your system, you can use that to install the desired browser version, or just use the MSET exploit in place of the browser exploit.

There might be other options, but I'm not too familiar on this subject, so I'll defer to others.

Here's another noob but very important question on Old 3DS's. Now that a new emunand and gateway version are out, should I want to replace my original 2GB SD card for say a class 10 8GB SD, would it be ok to simply remove my 2 GB SD, activate the gateway exploit (with the 3.2.2 dat already inside) on recovery mode, choosing to format emunand, and update it from scratch? Would that work? It's not really for me, but I really would like to be sure on this, because I need to give advice on replacing gateway to someone who isn't familiar with gateway or the English language, and that seemed like the easiest, cleanest method I could come up with since it doesn't involve other programs and apps.

Also, does anyone know if it's possible to make a nand backup with the small 2 GB card that comes with the 3DS, or if it's possible to backup the nand (make a backup of the sysnand) in the recovery mode using a diferent card, or is that backup actually from the emunand, and thus needs the SD?
Thanks in advance.

I think you need to have either Cubic Ninja, or Zelda Ocarina of Time from your region (cubic from eshop works too) to make it work. I believe sky3ds works too. It's also possible to forgo these cartridges/games later on if you use the new install to NVRAM feature.

Is it possible to transfer a save file from an NTSC cart of Animal Crossing to a PAL digital version? I would like to make the switch over from NTSC carts too PAL digital but I just have a couple games (Animal Crossing, Pokemon Y) with save files that I can't lose.

That depends on the system you have and you didn't provide any information about it. You do realize there are different firmware and a new 3ds?

Are there any header generator or some service that give me cheap usable private header <$5?
Well there are services on eBay but not sure you can trust them. There is no such thing as a private header you did not create from a new game you own. There is always a chance someone else ripped the header.
