I don't care about converting them. Installing them takes forever. That's what most people here are complaining about.People complaining about 3ds files just convert it to cia and stop being lazy....
That's not a bad idea. I think it could be possible to decompress the CIA and sign it with the console xorpad.I just wish the install process could be done on the PC end, installing my 10 CIA's took several hours
That's somewhat like what I was talking about.maybe a CIA re-route would work?
like a shell of a CIA - routes in real time to .3ds file on the SD card.
idk im uninformed on this stuff so its just a guess.
It would take 20 minutes just to load the gameThat's somewhat like what I was talking about.
My idea (don't know if I explained it well enough in the OP)
Load up the 3DS ROM Loader (or CFW)
Select ROM
ROM replaces an installed CIA
Can launch CIA to play ROM
Sounds like a good way to get party van'd.Don't quote me on this but can't you just install the (fake) tickets and download from eshop?
Or there's no legit non-piracy reason for loading a .3ds from the SD card and they told you that because PIRACY.I'm pretty sure I asked something similar to this on the 3dsdev IRC, and I was told it would not work. Don't quote me here, but I'm pretty sure it had to do with the transfer rate of the mediatype. (Gamecart/SD.) I remember something about the fact that it would attempt to be loaded directly in to RAM if something like this was attempted, and the RAM is obviously not big enough to house a full game.
Then again, my memory of what was said is foggy.

I've been digging through gateway's 1.0 code to see what changes they had made to the firmware that allows their card to work, but ARM assembly and I don't get along so great yet. This can't be correct if you consider that GW3DS also somehow just streams data from the .3ds file to the console. There should be a way to reroute that access to/from the SD card.
Just look at the PSP, it also handles ISOs with 2GB+ w/o problems ... a proper loader is whats realy needed here.
a stab in the dark would just be patching how the cart authentication works and reworking it in their favor to only accept gateway cards as legit cards......in other words a completely different route than what you would require to redirect access to a file on the SD cardI've been digging through gateway's 1.0 code to see what changes they had made to the firmware that allows their card to work, but ARM assembly and I don't get along so great yet.
